The muntain bng antelpe,ne f the mst endangered animals,is likely t cntinue wandering in the wild fr lnger.Fllwing 18 years f effrts,staff members frm the Munt Kenya Wildlife Cnservancy reached a milestne this year.That is the first baby muntain bng antelpe brn in the wild.
Unique t this area,the last few decades has seen a dramatic decline in the number f the muntain bng,frm an estimated ppulatin f 25,000 t less than 100.Its ppulatin decline was mainly human-driven.Nw the Cnservancy is making effrts in partnership with the Kenya gvernment t help the muntain bng thrugh a new breeding and rewilding prgram.
The muntain bng is nly fund in Kenya and its decline in this area therefre means its decline in the wrld.That explains why taking immediate actin here is s urgent.T enable the animals t adapt t life in the wild,the Cnservancy has taken a series f measures.With the first stage f the adaptatin being cmpleted,the Cnservancy has mved t the secnd stage which invlves intrducing the antelpes t the wild.
