Is a Tmat a Fruit r a Vegetable?
There's n dubt that tmates have many different uses. They can be used in a summer salad r t make a tasty sauce. But is the tmat a fruit? Or are we eating a vegetable?
Farmers, cks and lawyers all have different answers t this questin.
But it may seem 36 t us. Eat it fr lunch? Vegetable. Eat it fr dessert? Fruit! But it's nt that easy. There are legal definitins(法律界定) fr what are cnsidered fruits and vegetables, 37 scientific nes.
T answer the questin "Is a tmat a fruit?”, let's lk at the definitin f fruit Accrding t the Oxfrd English Dictinary, fruit is “the part f a plant that 38 ne r mre seeds and flesh (果肉)can be eaten as fd and usually tastes sweet. ”Like ther true fruits, tmates frm frm small yellw flwers n the vine(藤蔓)and naturally cntain many seeds. These seeds can later be used t 39 mre tmat plants.
Des that mean that pumpkins, peppers and cucumbers are fruits? Yes, scientifically speaking, they are all fruits. Then, what is a vegetable? Simply put, if yu just eat the stems r leaves r rts r flwers f a plant, that makes it a vegetable. 40 , carrts, ptates and brccli (西兰花)are all vegetables.
While tmates are scientifically fruits, they're legally classed as vegetables. In 1893, the U. S Cngress (美国国会)passed a law. It put a 10-percent tax n whle vegetables. S, t avid paying the fee, sellers 41 that tmates were fruit. The Supreme Curt (美国最高法院)then made a 42 fr the case. It stated that tmates were vegetables instead f fruit. The reasn was that cks prepared them and peple ate them like vegetables. This means, legally speaking, tmates are vegetables.
When it cmes dwn t the exact definitin, it desn't really matter. After all, bth fruits and vegetables are 43 helpful and necessary fr ur bdies. Whether yu like tmates in a salad r prefer tmat sup, eating this fruit/vegetable will d yu gd.

Handwriting is imprtant. It may nt play a big part in this mdern wrld, but it's still very imprtant t many peple. In many jbs--mre than mst peple think--having gd, clear handwriting is necessary. If early n in schl yu get graded n yur handwriting, then yu can imprve n it and get a better jb in the future. Yurs:
Carlina
Dear Carlina,
Anyne can becme an activist if there's an issue they feel strngly abut. I started speaking up abut disabilities because I knw what it was like t have ne and t be treated differently because f it. When I was little, I wndered why ty figures didn't lk like me. S at the age f ten, I wrte t ask a big cmpany t d smething abut this prblem. I spke abut it n the news, and I even did a TED Talk abut it. After mre than a year f using my vice, I gt t wrk with a design team n a Barbie dll that uses a prsthetic leg(假肢). That experience shwed me that the mre I spke up, the mre changes I might be able t make.
Smetimes, being an activist means stepping up and speaking up in a mre public way than yu nrmally wuld. Taking risks is a big part f being an activist.

Haven is raising awareness f climate change, and Taylr is making sure that girls arund the wrld are invlved in STEAM educatin.
If yu really care abut an issue, learn as much as yu can abut it and find creative ways t speak up. Maybe it's writing a letter t the editr f yur lcal paper. Maybe it's creating a club at yur schl r in yur neighbrhd. Yu can wrk with ther kids t unite yur vices s as t be able t make a change.
Yu dn't have t d smething as big as creating a new ty r speaking in frnt f a crwd. If yu help even ne persn learn and change, yu've made a big difference!
Yurs,
Jrdan Reeves
