Step 1 Lead-in
T: What’s the weather like tday? It’s sunny tday.
What was the weather like yesterday? It was rainy yesterday.
What d yu d every evening? What did yu d yesterday evening?

Step 2 Presentatin
1. What is the simple past tense?
表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态:
(1) It was rainy yesterday.
(2) I played cmputer games yesterday evening.
表示过去经常或反复发生的动作:
(3) My father ften went t wrk by bus last year.
(4) When I was a child, I ften listened t music.
In a wrd, we use the simple past tense t talk abut things in the past.
2. Hw t frm the simple past tense?
We frm the simple past tense with the past frms f the verbs. There are regular verbs and irregular verbs. We add -ed t regular verbs but we frm the simple past tense f irregular verbs differently. We d nt add -ed.
(1) Rules f regular verbs and d sme exercises.
(2) Sme small rules f irregular verbs and have a cmpetitin.
Read the irregular verbs after the teacher and read them fluently.
Read the irregular verbs and the past frms as fast yu can, and the teacher will recrd the time. Let’s see wh can read fastest withut any mistakes.
(3) Millie wants t practise using the simple past tense. Help her write the simple past tense f the verbs n Page 62.
(4) Let’s play a game. Take turns t read the sentence with the simple past tense as fast as pssible.
3. When t use the simple past tense?
(1) We need sme key wrds t help us use the simple past tense crrectly.
(2) Cmplete the sentences. Dn’t frget t circle the key wrds.

T: Daniel did nt g t the Fun Wrld Museum. Millie is telling him abut the visit. Help Millie cmplete the cnversatin. Act the dialgue ut.
3. Make a survey.
T: Did yu g t any museums like Millie during the last May Day hliday? What did yu d during the May Day hliday? Where were yu? Hw did yu feel? Let’s make a survey. Ask three f yur classmates abut their May Day hliday and fill in the table. Yu shuld speak English when yu are making yur survey. Dn’t frget t use the simple past tense.
4. Write a reprt.
T: Yu knw a lt abut yur classmates’ hliday. Why nt write a reprt? Yu can begin like this: During the May Day hliday, …

Step 4 Summary
巧记一般过去时:
动词一般过去时,表示过去发生的事;be用was或用were,have、has变had;
谓语动词过去式,过去时间做标志;一般动词加-ed,若是特殊得硬记。
