A Using adjectives
Step 1 Lead-in
T: Tday we’ll learn Grammar f Unit 8. First let’s enjy a dance.
Wh knws the dancer’s name? Yu’re right. It’s Garfield. He is a famus film star.
Lk, here cmes Garfield. He is very fat. He is a fat cat.
His face is rund. He has a rund face.
His eyes are big. He has big eyes.
He is ften hungry. He is a hungry cat.
He is always s happy. He is a happy cat.

Step 2 Presentatin
1. Hw t use adjectives.
T: Fat, rund, big, hungry and happy are all adjectives. Tday we’ll learn hw t use adjectives.
★ We use adjectives t describe peple r things.
(1) Rabbits have lng ears.
(2) Rabbits’ ears are lng.
In the tw sentences, “ear” is a nun. We use “lng” t describe the wrd.
★ We can put an adjective befre a nun r after a linking verb.
(1) A lazy cat is n the sfa.
(2) The cat n the sfa is lazy.
In the first sentence, “cat” is a nun. S we put the adjective “lazy” befre “cat”.
In the secnd sentence, “is” is a linking verb. S we put the adjective “lazy” after “is”.
2. Linking verbs.
T: We are quite familiar with sme linking verbs, such as:
be becme feel get grw keep lk seem smell sund taste turn
We can use adjectives after these linking verbs.
T: I’ll shw yu mre examples. (phts f Garfield)
He is always s happy. He never feels sad.
He likes running n the grass when it turns green.
He lks smart in the suit.
He seems clever.

B Using indefinite prnuns
Step 1 Lead-in
T: Peple like different animals and keep sme as their pets.
Des anybdy in ur class have a pet?
Oh, I’m glad t knw that smebdy in ur class has a pet.
Des everybdy want a pet?
My family and I are t busy. Nbdy has time t lk after a pet. What a pity!
T: We can als use anyne, smene, everyne, n ne in these sentences.
These wrds belng t a special kind f prnuns. They are called “indefinite prnuns”.
Step 2 Presentatin
1. Hw t use indefinite prnuns.
T: We use indefinite prnuns t refer t peple and things when we d nt knw r d nt need t mentin wh r what we are talking abut.
T: We use smebdy/smene, anybdy/anyne, everybdy/everyne, nbdy/n ne t refer t peple.
We use smething, anything, everything, nthing t refer t things.
2. Mre explanatins.
(1) smebdy, smene & smething
a. I saw ____________ (有人) in the huse. (smebdy/smene)
b. There is ____________ (某个东西) under the bed. (smething)
Cnclusin: We use smebdy, smene and smething in psitive sentences.
c. Wuld yu like smething t eat?
d. Is smene there?
Cnclusin: When we are ffering smething r when we expect the answer t be ‘yes’, we can use smething, smebdy/smene in questins.
(2) anybdy, anyne & anything
a. I did nt see _________ (有人) in the huse. (anybdy/anyne)
b. There is nt ________ (某个东西) under the bed. (anything)
c. D yu feed yur gldfish ________ (某物) else? (anything)
Cnclusin: We use anybdy, anyne and anything in negative sentences r in questins.
(3) nbdy, n ne & nthing
a. There is ________ (没人) in the living rm. (nbdy/n ne)
b. I saw _______ (没东西) in the fridge. (nthing)
Cnclusin: We use nbdy, n ne and nthing t refer t ‘nt anyne’ and ‘nt anything’.
Practice: There isn’t anybdy in the rm. = There is __________ in the rm. (nbdy)
I did nt hear anything. = I heard _________. (nthing)
(4) everybdy, everyne & everything
a. Is _________________ (每个人) here tday? (everybdy/everyne)
b. __________ (每样东西) is ready. (Everything)
Cnclusin:
We use everybdy, everyne and everything t refer t “all peple” and “all things”.
注:everybdy,everyne和everything一般都被视作单数,谓语动词用单数。
Step 3 Practice
T: Mr Hu is asking the students abut their pets. Cmplete their cnversatin with the crrect indefinite prnuns.
Step 4 Cnclusin
T: When we refer t peple, we use smebdy/smene, anybdy/anyne, everybdy/everyne and nbdy/n ne.
When we refer t things, we use smething, anything, everything and nthing.
T: We use smebdy, smene and smething in psitive sentences.
We use anybdy, anyne and anything in negative sentences r in questins.
We use nbdy, n ne and nthing t refer t ‘nt anyne’ and ‘nt anything’.

2. Write yur wn passage.
T: We can find many adjectives and indefinite prnuns in the passage. Are yu able t write a passage like this? Try t use mre adjectives and indefinite prnuns.
