Nwadays， peple have becme accustmed t space travel. If Neil Armstrng hadn’t set ft n the Mn in 1969， much discvery f space wuldn’t have been dne. Fllwing his Mn landings， space travel sn became unexceptinal t the public. When theChallengerspace shuttle tk ff in 1986， the wrld seemed t have lst its wnder at the amazing achievements f the astrnauts invlved and frgtten hw hazardus space travel culd be. Tragically， the space shuttle explded and the crew n bard were killed. As the Challenger disaster cast a big shadw n the public， many reprts were submitted requesting that space shuttle flights shuld be suspended fr a few years. It tk nearly three years befre ur enthusiasm was rekindled and the Discvery was launched successfully. The sacrifice f the Challenger reminds us that we must cntinue t reach fr the stars n matter hw distant they might seem.

submit （neself） t…中的t为介词，其后只能跟名词、代词、v-ing形式作宾语。常见的容易出错的t作介词的短语有make cntributins t ding， get dwn t ding， the key/answer t ding， when it cmes t ding等。这些短语中的t容易被误以为是不定式符号，需要特别注意。

4 castashadwn/ver给……蒙上阴影

5 "情态动词＋havedne"结构
1.克里斯在期末考试中取得如此好的成绩，一定非常努力学习了。

★常见的"情态动词＋have dne"结构：
（1）表示猜测：
may/might have dne 可能做过
must have dne 一定做过
can’t/culdn’t have dne 不可能做过
（2）表示与事实不符：
culd/shuld/wuld have dne 本能/该/打算做（而没做）
shuldn’t have dne 本不该做（而做了）
needn’t have dne 本不必做（而做了）
