    3In December 1938, a friend asked Wintn t cme t Prague t aid peple wh were escaping frm the Nazis.In Prague, Wintn saw peple living in terrible cnditins and whse lives were in danger. He decided t help transprt children t safety in Britain.
    He established an ffice t keep recrds f the children, and then returned t Britain t find temprary hmes fr them. He used dnated funds and his wn mney t pay the 50 punds per child that the British gvernment required. By August 1939, Wintn had saved 669 children.
