After years f research and testing, the hybrid car was develped and put n the market. It’ s an interesting and exciting new imprvement in tday’ s wrld as we lk fr better ways t prtect the quality f the air we breathe and cnserve ur natural resurces.
The quality f ur air is affected by many different things. But ne f the largest surces f air pllutin is the burning f fssil fuels such as cal and gasline which is used t pwer a car’ s engine. The EPA has set natinal standards t help cntrl the level f harmful pllutants sent ff int the air, and the autmbile industry has acted by prducing a hybrid car that uses less gas and therefre causes less pllutin.
A hybrid car is a cmbinatin f a regular car that runs n gasline and an electric car that is battery pwered. Sme peple tend t think that since the hybrid car is partially electric, yu have t plug it in t charge it. But that’s nt hw it wrks. The 144vlt battery pack is actually recharged thrugh the energy that is prduced when the car’s brakes are used. This is referred t as “regenerative braking”, because it generates electricity.
Althugh the hybrid car still runs n gasline mst f the time, this helps it use less gas than a regular car. When the driver stps at a traffic light, the engine autmatically shuts ff t save fuel. Then, as sn as the driver puts the car in gear and tuches the gas pedal, the engine starts back up.
Have yu ever ridden in a car with smene wh ran ut f gas? That prbably wuldn’t happen if yu were riding in a hybrid car. It flashes a warning n its cmputer screen that says, “I am lw n gas”. When it cmpletely runs ut, the warning reads, “YOU ARE NOW OUT OF GAS!” Then the electric pwer supply kicks in t let the driver travel a few mre miles t a gas statin.
26. Which f the fllwing is true accrding t the passage?
A. The hybrid car will be put n the market.

Dear Seth,
Yu’re nly three years ld, and at this pint in yur life yu can’t read, much less understand what I’ll tell yu in this letter. But I’ve been thinking a lt abut the life that yu have ahead f yu, abut my life s far as I reflect n what I’ve learned, and abut my rle as a dad in trying t prepare yu fr the trials(磨难) that yu’ll face in the cming years.
Yu wn’t be able t understand this letter tday, but smebdy, when yu’re ready, I hpe yu will find sme wisdm and value in what I share with yu.
Yu are yung, and life has nt yet t shw a cld face t yu, t thrw disappintments and lneliness and pain int yur path. Yu have nt been wrn dwn yet by lng hurs f thankless wrk, by the slings and arrws f everyday life.
Fr this, be thankful. Yu are at a wnderful time f life. Yu have many wnderful stages f life still t cme, but they are nt withut their csts and perils.
I hpe t help yu alng yur path by sharing sme f the best f what I’ve learned. As with any advice, take it with a grain f salt. What wrks fr me might nt wrk fr yu.
Life Can Be Cruel
There will be peple in yur life wh wn't be very nice. They’ll tease yu because yu’re different, r fr n gd reasn. They might try t bully yu r hurt yu.
There’s nt much yu can d abut these peple except t learn t deal with them, and learn t chse friends wh are kind t yu, wh actually care abut yu, wh make yu feel gd abut yurself. When yu find friends like this, hld n t them, treasure them, spend time with them, be kind t them, lve them.
There will be times when yu are met with disappintment instead f success. Life wn’t always turn ut the way yu want. This is just anther thing yu’ll have t learn t deal with. But instead f letting these things get yu dwn, push n. Accept disappintment and learn t persevere, t pursue yur dreams despite pitfalls. Learn t turn negatives int psitives, and yu’ll d much better in life.
Yu will als face heartbreak and abandnment by thse yu lve. I hpe yu dn’t have t face this t much, but it happens. Again, nt much yu can d but t heal, and t mve n with yur life. Let these pains becme stepping stnes t better things in life, and learn t use them t make yu strnger.
But Be Open t Life Anyway
Yes, yu’ll find cruelty and suffering in yur jurney thrugh life, but dn’t let that clse yu t new things. Dn’t mve back frm life, dn’t hide r wall yurself ff. Be pen t new things, new experiences, new peple.
Yu might get yur heart brken 10 times, but find the mst wnderful wman the 11th time. If yu shut yurself ff frm lve, yu’ll miss ut n that wman, and the happiest times f yur life.
Yu might get teased and bullied and hurt by peple yu meet, and then after meeting dzens f jerks, find a true friend. If yu clse yurself ff t new peple, and dn’t pen yur heart t them, yu’ll avid pain…, but als lse ut n meeting sme incredible peple, wh will be there during the tughest times f yur life and create sme f the best times f yur life.
Yu will fail many times but if yu allw that t stp yu frm trying, yu will miss ut n the amazing feeling f success nce yu reach new heights with yur accmplishments. Failure is a stepping stne t success.
Life Isn’t a Cmpetitin
Yu will meet many peple wh will try t d better than yu, in schl, in cllege, at wrk. They’ll try t have nicer cars, bigger huses, nicer clthes, cler gadgets. T them, life is a cmpetitin—they have t d better than their peers t be happy.
Here’s the secret: life isn’t a cmpetitin. It's a jurney. If yu spend that jurney always trying t impress thers, t utd thers, yu’re wasting yur jurney. Instead, learn t enjy the jurney. Make it a jurney f happiness, f cnstant learning, f cntinual imprvement, f lve.
Dn’t wrry abut having a nicer car r huse r anything material, r even a better-paying jb. Nne f that matters a whit, and nne f it will make yu happier. Yu’ll acquire these things and then nly want mre. Instead, learn t be satisfied with having enugh—and then use the time yu wuld have wasted trying t earn mney t buy thse things… use that time ding things yu lve.
Finally, knw that I lve yu and always will. Yu are starting ut n an unknwn, tiring, scary, but badly wnderful jurney, and always remember I will be there fr yu when I can. Gdspeed!
Lve,
Yur Dad
