描写“改变”和“成长”一直是读后续写中的一个重要主题。写好此类文章时,利用积累的语言素材,从细节上对情绪变化、心理状态进行刻画,对推动情节的发展有着重要的作用。续写的结尾部分需要凸显文章的主题,使得主题进行升华,既不能拖拉,也不能草率,正确运用高级句式和含义深刻的句子置于句尾,如:强调句型、倒装句、感叹句等则对起到首尾呼应、画龙点睛的效果。
