He has met with the mayr f his city, and his experiences speaking with influential grwnups has cnvinced him that adults can change their habits.
But, in truth, the burden t save the planet has landed n children like him. “Kids may be a small percent f the ppulatin, but we’re 100% f the future,” he says. “And we can save the wrld.”

It’s n secret that inhaling (吸入) smke is bad fr yur lungs. But nw, scientists are suggesting smke may als carry and spread infectius diseases. The thery, published in Science Magazine, is based n research that fund wildfire smke is crwded with thusands f species f micrrganisms. Sme f these micrrganisms, including bacteria and fungal spres, are knwn t cause disease.
The new research suggests that when a wildfire burns plant r animal matter and disturbs sils, it expses thusands f species f bacteria and fungi that therwise might nt easily becme airbrne (空气传播的). Yu might think the high heat frm fire wuld kill these rganisms, but ne study mentined in the article fund that sme bacteria even multiply pst-fire. Scientists say the rganisms attach t smke particles, allwing them t travel thusands f miles acrss cntinents.
Dr. Peter Chen, directr f the Divisin f Pulmnary and Critical Care Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Ls Angeles, is interested in the thery but smewhat skeptical that the micrrganisms in smke wuld actually cause infectins. Many bacteria and fungi dn’t cause lung infectins, says Chen, but it’s certainly pssible that a significant amunt culd wrsen symptms in smene with a preexisting lung cnditin. “I always thught it was the particles in smke that were causing these issues,” says Chen. “But when I read this, I started thinking: Culd it be the micrrganisms that are als wrsening existing illnesses?”
Whether the micrrganisms in smke actually cause infectin r simply wrsen ptential respiratry (呼吸的) issues, the article raises a new health threat that is “certainly alarming”, says Kelsey Jack, an assciate prfessr f envirnmental and develpment ecnmics. This is especially true fr lwer-incme ppulatins, Jack says, because peple with fewer means are ften mre expsed t the envirnment. If smke is affecting the air quality in a certain area, the peple wh wrk utside, r wh have t g t the ffice n ft r by bike will inhale mre smke than thse wh drive.
But until mre research is dne, Chen says the best thing peple can d is just fllw existing recmmendatins when air quality is pr—including staying indrs, keeping windws and drs clsed, using HEPA filters and running air cnditining.
28.What can we knw abut the micrrganisms frm paragraph 2?
A.They culd be killed by high heat.

C.They culd pssibly travel thrugh air by themselves.
D.They can easily attach themselves t smke particles.

A.They might wrsen lung diseases.B.They will cause lung infectins.
C.They will destry living envirnments.D.They might damage respiratry systems.

    A.They live in pr areas.
B.They drive t and frm wrk.
C.They have suffered frm lung disease.
D.They are expsed t plluted air mre frequently.
31.What des the last paragraph mainly talk abut?

The universe, with its cuntless stars and galaxies, can be visually impressive, especially when we use high-pwered telescpes t peer beynd the range f human visin. But what if we culd hear thse bjects as well? That may sund impssible at first — hw can sund travel thrugh the vacuum f space? Isn’t the universe silent?
Far frm it, says Kim Arcand, an expert n data visualizatin at the Smithsnian Astrphysical Observatry. Her team has fund ways t strengthen distant sund waves that wuld therwise be undetectable by human ears. They’ve als emplyed creative prcessing — taking visual data frm infrared and X-ray telescpes and assigning ntes t that data-t shw celestial (天体的) phenmena via sunds. These “snificatins” (可听化) prvide a new way fr peple t experience thse awe-inspiring bjects.
Arcand, wrking with clleagues at the Smithsnian, Harvard and NASA, tgether with a Canadian science utreach team called SYSTEM Sunds, has been making these custm-made audi tracks that bring celestial images t life. An bvius match-up is t pair brighter parts f an image with luder sunds r t present lnger wavelengths f light with lwer-pitched sunds, and shrter nes with higher-pitched. Nw, many f the tracks can be heard n YuTube, paired up with the images that inspired them, 16 f thse snificatins have been put int an album called Universal Harmnies, which will be available n CD and streaming platfrms beginning March 10.
Aside frm bringing science t a wider audience, Arcand als believes that snificatin can blster the science itself by allwing mre peple t cntribute t ur understanding f the universe. One f her gals, she says, is t shw that “peple wh are blind r lw-visin ... can als becme part f the scientific enterprise.”
Fr University f Trnt astrphysicist Matt Russ, wh runs SYSTEM Sunds tgether with musician Andrew Santaguida, snificatin has been a chance t bring tgether his tw great passins — astrnmy and music. It’s bth an art and a science. “It was just instantly bvius that it was fun and rewarding,” he says.
32.What is paragraph 2 mainly abut?
    A.Patterns f sund waves.B.Advantages f visualizatin.
    C.Prcesses f data analysis.D.Appraches t snificatins.
33.Hw did Arcand’s team turn the images f universe int sunds?
A.By uplading images nt streaming platfrms.
B.By pairing images with sunds thrugh creative technlgy.
C.By identifying and cnnecting different sund waves.
D.By prcessing audi data with the help f SYSTEM Sunds.
34.What des the underlined wrd “blster” prbably mean in paragraph 4?

Digital technlgies are taking up t much f ur time and attentin. Or yu culd be getting stuck n yur device at the dinner table and end up getting distracted. 37 Identify yur tp tw r three prblem situatins.
    38
Once yu identify the pain pints, fr example, scrlling (滚动浏览) n TikTk fr hurs keeps yu frm sleeping and makes yu feel depressed afterward), ask yurself: What is screen time replacing and what gals is it serving? In ther wrds, what are yu actually hungry fr? Yu might be endlessly scrlling because yu want t feel uplifted at the end f the day. Write dwn the things yu really want.
    Try a substitute
39 It’s crucial t pick smething that cnsistently makes yu feel gd. Fr example, if yur gal is scial cnnectin, make plans fr a nice meal with a friend r take that weekly meeting in persn rather than via Zm. If yur gal is inspiratin, schedule time fr il painting, reading histrical fictin r whatever it is that uplifts yu. 40 And at last, yu will becme empwered, healthy and wise digital citizens.
    A.Identify yur true desire.
    B.Determine yur pain pints.
C.Pretty sn, these replacements will make yu feel mre satisfied.
D.But the nly way t truly gain cntrl is t take psitive steps in advance.
E.Or maybe yu are inefficient at wrk because yu’re ding t much nline shpping.
F.Ask yurself hw yu can meet thse needs thrugh smething ther than screen time.
G.If yur digital life is ut f balance, reducing time n devices is an imprtant first step.
