构词法主要指词形(词性)的变化及其规则,包括转化法、派生法、合成法等。备考中要重点关注词性转换、词形变化及一些常见前后缀的含义。
一、转化法 把一种词性用作另一种词性而词形不变的方法称作转化法,有的名词可以作动词,有的形容词可以作动词等。1.动词→名词: aim瞄准→aim目标;answer回答→answer答案

二、派生法 在词根前加前缀或词根后加后缀,构成一个与原单词意义相近或相反的新词的方法称作派生法。一般前缀改变词义,不改变词性;后缀改变词性,不改变词义。
1.前缀: (1)表否定的前缀:dis-,il-,im-,in-,ir-,mis-,nn-,un-等。necessary必要的→unnecessary没必要的;pssible可能的→impssible不可能的;understand理解→misunderstand误解
(2)表其他意义的前缀:a-(常构成表语形容词),anti-(反对;抵抗),aut-(自动), c-(共同),en-(使),ex-(以前的),inter-(互相),mini-(小的),ver-(过度),re-(再;又),sub-(下面的;次),tele-(距离)等。war战争→anti-war反战的;able有能力的→enable使有能力;bus公共汽车→minibus面包车
2.后缀: (1)构成名词的后缀:-(e)r/-r(从事某事的人), -ese(某地人),-ess(雌性),-ian(精通……的人),-ist(专业人员),-ment(性质;状态),-ness(性质;状态),-tin(动作;过程)等。act行为→actr演员;argue争论→argument辩论;music音乐→musician音乐家
(2)构成动词的后缀:-(e)n(多用于形容词后),-fy(使……化),-ize(使……成为)。strength力量→strengthen加强;simple简单的→simplify使简化 (3)构成形容词的后缀:-al,-able(有能力的),-(a)n(某国人的),-ern(方向的),-ese(某国人的),-ful,-(ic)al,-ish,-ive,-less(否定),-like(像……的),-us,-sme,-y(表示天气)等。west西方→western西方的;attract吸引→attractive吸引人的
三、合成法 合成法是把两个或两个以上的词按照一定次序排列构成新词的方法。复合词分为复合名词、复合形容词和复合动词等。1.复合名词:weekend,typewriter,freshman,handwriting。2.复合形容词:hard-wrking,man-made,rdinary-lking。3.复合动词:sleepwalk,daydream,sun-bathe。
