Scientists at MIT have managed t change rdinary spinach plants int natural sensrs传感器 which can detect探测 chemicals化学物质 used in bmbs. Using a cheap and small cmputer system, the spinach can even send a warning email.
The secret t giving spinach these special pwers is nantechnlgy. Fr this experiment, the scientists placed tw different kinds f nantech materials int spinach plants: sme were tiny sensrs; thers were tiny tubes called carbn nantubes(纳米管). T get the tiny materials int the plants, the scientists put a liquid cntaining the nan-materials n the bttm f the plants’ leaves. That’s where the plants nrmally take in CO2 gas.
Once the tiny sensrs and nantubes were in the spinach leaves, the plants did the rest f the wrk. As part f their natural prcess, the spinach plants pull water thrugh their rts and int their leaves.
