In his 1936 wrk Hw t Win Friends and Influence Peple, Dale Carnegie wrte: “I have cme t the cnclusin that there is nly ne way t get the best f an argument — and that is t avid it.” This distaste fr arguments is cmmn, but it depends n a mistaken view f arguments that causes prblems fr ur persnal and scial lives — and in many ways misses the pint f arguing in the first place.
Carnegie wuld be right if arguments were fights, which is hw we ften think f them. Like physical fights, verbal (言语的) fights can leave bth sides bldied. Even when yu win, yu end up n better ff. Yu wuld be feeling almst as bad if arguments were even just cmpetitins — like, say, tennis turnaments. Pairs f ppnents hit the ball back and frth until ne winner cmes ut frm all wh entered. Everybdy else lses. This kind f thinking explains why s many peple try t avid arguments.
Hwever, there are ways t win an argument every time. When yu state yur psitin, frmulate (阐述) an argument fr what yu claim and hnestly ask yurself whether yur argument is any gd. When yu talk with smene wh takes a stand, ask them t give yu a reasn fr their view and spell ut their argument fully. Assess its strength and weakness. Raise bjectins (异议) and listen carefully t their replies. This methd will require effrt, but practice will make yu better at it.
These tls can help yu win every argument — nt in the unhelpful sense f beating yur ppnents but in the better sense f learning abut what divides peple, learning why they disagree with us and learning t talk and wrk tgether with them. If we readjust ur view f arguments — frm a verbal fight r tennis game t a reasned exchange thrugh which we all gain respect and understanding frm each ther — then we change the very nature f what it means t “win” an argument.
24.What is the authr’s attitude tward Carnegie’s understanding f argument?
A.Critical.B.Supprtive.C.Tlerant.D.Uncertain.
25.Why d many peple try t avid arguments?
A.They lack debating skills.B.They may feel bad even if they win.
C.They fear being ignred.D.They are nt cnfident in themselves.
26.What des the underlined phrase “spell ut” in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
A.Defend.B.Explain.C.Cnclude.D.Repeat.
27.What is the key t “winning” an argument accrding t the authr?
A.Sense f lgic.B.Slid supprting evidence.
C.Prper manners.D.Understanding frm bth sides.

On sme Swedish trains, passengers carry their e-tickets in their hands. Abut 3,000 Swedes have chsen t put micrchips (微芯片) beneath the skin between fingers. The chips, which cst arund $150, can hld persnal facts, credit-card numbers and medical recrds. They depend n Radi Frequency ID (RFID), a technlgy already used in payment cards, tickets and passprts.
There are 10,000 peple with chip implants (植入) arund the wrld. Sweden, hme t several micrchip cmpanies, has the largest share. Peple can rder d-it-yurself kits. And smetimes they get T-shirts that say “I gt chipped”.
Jwan Österlund, the funder f BiHax, a Swedish firm, argues that chips are safer than mbile phnes because it is harder t steal infrmatin frm them. But sme peple still have wrries. RFID chips d nt have GPS, but they leave a trail when they are used t pen drs, perate printers, etc. In 2004 a Mexican gvernment fficial and his wrkmates had chips placed in their arms that tracked wh had accessed imprtant infrmatin.
S why take the risk? Less truble is ne reasn. The equipment fr micrchip implants exists wherever new payments are accepted. Sweden is well suited, as the wrld’s secnd mst cash-less cuntry (after Canada).
But the chips have little use unless all cmpanies agree t wrk tgether. Few shps recgnize this chip implants yet, even thse rganizatins that d have had sme trubles in the beginning. When Swedish rail fficials began scanning passengers’ micrchips, they saw private infrmatin rather than evidence f ticket buying. Fr nw the chips are used largely as business cards, keys r t stre imprtant infrmatin.
S the desire t win ntice r admiratin is anther explanatin. Chip enthusiasts want t equip human bdies with technlgy. Eln Musk, an American businessman has spent mney n this technlgy that cnnects machines with human brains, which caused fears frm sme Christians.

C.Because they encurage mre cmpanies t recgnize chip implants.
D.Because it is an attentin-catching technlgy that makes things easier.

A.There is a lng way t g befre the implanted chips are widely applied.
B.Many cmpanies take a wait-and-see attitude twards this technlgy.

D.Micrchips always successfully ffer infrmatin abut ticket buying.

Have yu ever left a mvie theater with a mixed feeling abut what yu just watched? N? Well, yu definitely haven’t seen the mvie “Npe(不)”. This 2022 mvie is a sci-fi hrrr. But despite having the amazing directr Jrdan Peele and the wnderful actrs, this film still manages t be the wrst I’ve ever seen.
In the mvie “Npe”, it shws us a western 1998 setting where we fllw a brther, OJ, and a sister, Emerald Haywd. Emerald is a fun and entertaining wman, while OJ is shy but utspken when necessary. They run a large hrse farm. They bserve smething mysterius in the sky, which they later learn is a UFO. This UFO is eating peple wh are watching hrse races. T help their hrse farm, they try their best t beat the mnster.
Daniel Kaluuya is a gd actr and has experienced playing in hrrr mvies. In the mvie, he did a gd jb at playing the rle f OJ until he tk a turn fr the wrse, ging frm a shy persn t a her wh leads his grup t success withut any visible (可见的) grwth. That makes his character challenging fr the audience t understand. I lve Keke Palmer’s humr and energy in the mvie, but it gets t a pint where she is t active, which makes her character Emerald unpleasant.
Many scenes in the mvie are extended nt t create suspense (悬念) but simply t add screen time. That makes the tw hurs feel like fur. There are many strylines that end as quickly as they begin, with seemingly n pint. The film is a far cry frm hrrr and suspense. It is just an alien stry with sme seeming scares in between. Jrdan Peele tried t make the mvie symblic, which made him blind t the idea that mvies are suppsed t be entertaining t watch. This mvie is nt fr yu if yu are a true suspense and hrrr fan. If yu ask me if yu shuld watch it r nt, I’d say “Npe.”
32.What d yu knw abut the mvie?
A.It is a western film.B.It is the wrst mvie.
C.It is set in ancient times.D.It is ppular with hrrr fans.
33.What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A.The respnse f the audience.B.The suggestin n the acting.
C.The cmparisn f the actrs.D.The pinin n the characters.
34.What is the main reasn fr the mvie’s failure accrding t paragraph 4?
A.The lng peridB.The wrng directr
C.The wrthless pltsD.The ld-fashined theme.
35.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A.“Npe” is a npe fr meB.What an entertaining film!
C.Jrdan Peele’s new mvieD.Shuld a hrrr be hrrible?
