Alng the Ulungur River (乌伦古河) in Altay (阿尔泰山), the nrthernmst area f Xinjiang, lives a species f beaver (河狸). This animal, which feeds n the shrubs (灌木) that grw near the river, has a strng sense f territry (领地) and wn't leave its surrundings easily. "The beavers, which can build dams(大坝), are knwn as 'engineers' in the animal kingdm. Their dams can change water levels, gather fish, attract birds t nest and bring insects," Chu explained.
