During the first few mnths, I cried with ur family, planned a memrial, celebrated a quiet Thanksgiving, and panicked ver nt having bught Christmas presents.
    As the new year began, the ften rainy days and lng nights deepened my srrw. I fund myself exhausted at the end f February, bth physically and mentally. Then the daffdils(水仙花) came ut in the garden.
    Years befre, Bruce had planted dzens f these lemn-yellw flwers. T him, they served as a reminder f hpe, a prmise that light and warmth wuld sn replace cld and dark. Lking at thse daffdils, I thught abut hw Bruce had cnsidered ur garden a living wrk f art, carefully chsing plants s we'd see new blms every mnth.
    Then I nticed all the weeds that had taken rt and spread everywhere. The neglect(疏于打理) shwed, fr Bruce's illness had lasted a cuple f years, a time when he didn't have energy fr yard wrk the way he had befre.
    Faced with the neglected garden, I felt at a lss hw t deal with the garden in the beginning. My daughter suggested I hire a persn t clean and tidy everything up. I didn't respnd.
    Every time I sat in the garden alne, the memries f the lively garden came flding, like the numerus scenes in an unfrgettable film. I was reminded f s many days when Bruce came hme frm wrk, put n ld clthes, and headed ut f the dr t mw r prune(修剪). Orange dragnflies fllwed him arund the yard as he wrked. Hneybees buzzed amng the flwers, birds sang beautiful sngs, and gentle breezes carried the sweet smell f earth. N matter hw cld r wet it was, the fresh air and physical activity made him energized and refreshed. Fr Bruce, the wrk was quiet and cmfrting, which was a relief, as well as a pleasure.
