All f a sudden, my nurse walked in and I jumped when I heard her vice. She didn’t mean t interrupt, but I needed mre medicine. Once she left, I fcused back and grasped the cwhide. I rubbed my fingers up and dwn just feeling this reminder f the game. It tk me n a wild rad trip thrugh my brain and I wuld stp at each baseball memry. This time I began t picture the peple that were invlved in my baseball life.
I pened my eyes, realising the rad trip that I used t be n had gne with the wind. My gaze shifted t the clck n the ppsite wall. Almst an hur had passed! Even in tugh times the things and peple yu lve culd help yu escape and yu wuld get ver all the difficulties.

What shuld we get fr ur kids this hliday? As children get lder, giving them smething they can experience instead f material things makes them happier, accrding t a new research led by Chaplin.
The research cmpares the level f happiness children get frm material things with that frm experiences. The results shws that children aged 3 thrugh 12 get mre happiness frm material things than frm experiences. Hwever, lder children get mre happiness frm experiences than frm their pssessins.
“It means experiences are highly preferred by adlescents, nt just expensive material things,” Chaplin says. She cntinues explaining,“Dn’t get me wrng. Yung children d lve experiences. And given this cncept, theme parks such as Disneyland are being built everywhere. In fact, yung children are excited thrughut the experience. Hwever, fr experiences t prvide lasting happiness, children must be able t recall details f the events.”
Lng after they have unwrapped their tys, there will still be a physical reminder t give them happiness. Hwever, yung children can’t see r tuch experiences after they are ver, making it harder fr them t appreciate experiences after a lng time. There’s an easy fix, thugh, accrding t Chaplin.
“Take pictures r vides f family walks, playing in the snw, and birthday parties,” she says.“Children are likely t appreciate thse experiences mre if there is smething t remind them f the event. Additinally, they’ll be able t learn the scial value f shared experiences.”
Children will remember and appreciate nt nly the birthday gifts they received, but als the time spent with family and friends as they recall the experience thrugh cncrete reminders such as phts and vides.
