My first weaving great.I skipped the bk and free-styled a pink-and-white clth t hang n my apartment dr.It started ff OK;I strung the lm successfully and figured ut hw t slide the threaded needle ver and under the backbne f the clth.
Then, mistake after mistake,I pulled the thread way t tight, making the sides curve in.There were lts f gaps, where I culd see the white threads underneath the clred nes.I culdn’t make the lng fringe(穗) at the bttm.In a fit f frustratin,I left it a mess.
Humbled by my pride,I pened the weaving bk.I learned hw t get my edges straight and my ends neat.I figured ut hw t sew backs nt clths, stuff them with cttn and make clrful pillws t display n my sfa.Sn I started making sme fr my families and friends.I even saved up mney t buy a 4-by-4-ft lm,where I wrked n bigger bjects.
I was fficially taken with it.Actually,I’ve never been gd at anything that requires hand-eye-brain cperatin. But weaving, smehw, feels different. It requires the same steps repeated ver again and encurages yu t lse yurself in the prcess.Every time I pick up my lm,my brain quiets dwn;as my needle slips between threads,I grund myself.I’ve never lved a hbby like this.
