The message is drummed int us frm childhd: frgive peple wh've wrnged yu, because it's the right thing t d. Frgiveness is a virtue, we're tld, te nly way fr us t truly mve n and heal. But frgiving smene is nt always what's best fr us. In fact, if smene has hurt yu deeply and the relatinship isn't healthy, trying t “fix” things can d mre harm than gd.
Mst f us wuld prbably agree that frgiving a wrngder means letting g f negative feelings like anger twards them. He lked at hw 72 newlywed cuples expressed frgiveness twards acts f aggressin(攻击性),and whether this caused any changes in the wrngder's behaviur. He fund that when a partner was mre likely t frgive thse acts, the aggressr was mre likely t keep cmmitting them. This is because facing the cnsequences f their actins is what mtivates peple t change their ways, and being ffered a clean sheet can allw them t avid making changes.Frgiving frequent and majr ffenses(冒犯), like verbal r physical abuse, can d mre harm than gd.
What if,instead f lking t frgiveness like a magic medicine, we put ur energies twards accepting a situatin fr what it is? This way, we can fcus n recgnizing what happened and cming t terms with it,hwever that lks fr us and withut any sense f bligatin twards ur ffender. It'll still be a prcess, sure, but it's ne centred arund yu and yur needs.
    32. What will happen if we frgive a wrngder accrding t “the drmat effect”?
A.We'll be free frm negative thughts.
    B. The relatinship will be strengthened.
C.The wrngder will change his behavir.
    D.We'll have less self-respect and self-awareness.
    33. Hw des the writer mainly illustrate his argument?
    A. By making cmparisns.B.By listing examples.
C.By citing research results.D. By giving definitins.
34.What can be cncluded frm James K McNulty's research?
    A. Frgiving a wrngder's behavir stps him frm hurting thers.
B.Facing the cnsequences f aggressin des mre harm than gd.
    C. Ignring majr ffenses encurages a wrngder's acts f aggressin.
D.Frgiving frequent aggressin prevents a wrngder frm making changes.
    35. What des the writer suggest readers d?
A.Frgive and frget.B. Learn t take the situatin as it is.
    C. Center n yurself.D. Keep n gd terms with ffenders.

    One pssible versin:
Time flew by and the day f the talent shw finally arrived. As I tk my seat in the hall, I culdn't help but wnder if Emily had decided t shw her talent. Anticipatin filled the air as varius acts tk the stage, each ne leaving the audience in amazement. As the perfrmances cntinued, my eyes eagerly scanned the crwd fr a glimpse f Emily. Just when I thught she might nt participate, the sptlight shifted, and Emily stepped nt stage, hlding a vilin in her hand. Excitement washing ver me,I culdn't wait t see her shw.
The hall fell int silence as she began t perfrm. The ntes frmed a sft, sweet tune and then it turned faster. The music stpped altgether befre the tune returned. Emily ended the sng with ne hard, fast, lud nte.The hall fell cmpletely silent until we realized the music was finished. Still in a half trance, the audience burst int lud applause. I smiled t myself. Emily wasn't just a “quiet girl”. She knew wnderful bks and culd play the vilin skillfully. Like a butterfly, she was beautiful and amazing when yu lked clsely.
