In my years in the classrm, I have had the pleasure f teaching several children wh have either ne r tw artists as parents. These children, wh have a higher than average expsure t art and the media fr creating it, pssess sme qualities that many ther children d nt have: in additin t their artistic talent, I have bserved that they usually read and write better than their peers. My cnclusin is that their expsure t art affects ther aspects f their learning.
I suggest that parents expand their definitin f art. If yu are a baker r a ck, r if yu like t arrange flwers, yu are an artist. These expressins f creativity are as valuable as thse f painters and the ther peple we call artists. If yu are a scientist and enjy inventing and experimenting, yu may include yurself in the definitin f "artist".
Art is a delightful way thrugh which yu can recrd the develpment f yur child's grwth. Just as yu will ntice that writing and reading imprve with age, s des artwrk. The rle f parents and teachers is t expse children t a variety f materials s that they can create art. Once the variety is ffered, children will then have a chice as t whether they want t use the materials r nt.
Creating art is a fine way fr children t make chices and slve prblems. Every step invlves making a decisin: what clr t use, hw t make a line, what size t make smething. With every chice, the bject becmes mre and mre their wn.
Everyne has an imaginatin. Art takes it a step further. Thrugh art, children create smething that, until that pint, was nly imagined. Thus, they create visual presentatin f abstract ideas.
Children wh may be having difficulties in ther parts f the schl curriculum may find an expressive utlet thrugh art. It's a way t uncver talent that may nt be seen therwise. Art is a means f cmmunicating ideas, feelings, and slutins in a way ther than verbally r written.
Families can create a harmnius balance in their children's lives when they make plans fr the arts. Be there t appreciate and encurage them during every step f the creative prcess.
    24. What has the authr fund thrugh his teaching career?

I picked up my tw best friends and we were ff n a rad trip. I had just returned t America frm a year abrad in China. S, naturally I wanted t take a trip t Canada.
Mntreal, the secnd largest city in Canada, is a furhur drive frm my hme in New Hampshire. We felt a thrill as we crssed the brder int Canada. It was the first time I had ever driven acrss an internatinal brder. We turned n the radi t try and find sme Canadian statins.
After drpping ff ur bags at ur htel, we were immediately walking dwn the famus St.Catherine’s Street. While we walked, tw things surprised us: hw cld it was and hw well everyne dressed. The streets f Mntreal are like a fashin shw. Bth men and wmen lk like they stepped ut f the pages f a magazine.
All f that fashin has t keep them warm since Mntreal is s cld. Last year it brke the recrd fr the mst snwfall in Nrth America. T hide frm the cld we went int a small diner because we wanted t rder Putine, a very ppular snack in Mntreal. It is French fries cvered in cheese and brwn gravy (肉汁). It is delicius.
Hwever, we had a hard time rdering the dish since the fficial language f Mntreal is French. It is actually the fifth largest Frenchspeaking city in the wrld. But since the rest f Canada speak English, plenty f peple were there t help.
We spent the rest f the weekend ging t many histrical churches and mnuments in Mntreal. But at night we’d head t the very mdern dance clubs and bars. Mntreal is a city that sits between the past and the future and the traveller can chse whichever directin he wants t g.

Despite earning mre than $ 100,000 in husehld incme, many peple feel that they are living mnth t mnth and that a lss f emplyment r sudden medical emergency culd easily mve them frm the upper middle class t lw incme earners. This feeling f being n the “edge” f pverty, despite these levels f incme, seems a bit ridiculus but it really cmes dwn t easy credit, misunderstanding f their incmes and peer grup pressures.
Even in tday’s tugh ecnmy, fr thse with six-figure incmes credit is easy t cme by. Credit cmpanies may have cut back fferings t thse in lwer incme brackets due t the recent credit refrms, but there seems t be little r n effect n high incme earners. Their being able t get credit withut difficulty gives them a false sense f security that makes them spend way mre than their incmes can affrd. That’s why they accumulate credit card debt faster than average.
Many higher incme earners feel like they are making lts f mney nw, and believe that they will cntinue t make big mney. This may reduce their feeling that they need t watch their mney carefully nw. Hand in hand with that, many f them prbably believe that they are making mre mney than they really are — r said anther way, the mney they make will g farther than it really des.
Meanwhile, many yung prfessinals wh are earning gd incmes dn't cme frm particularly privileged backgrunds, and their reference pint may be that they are making twice (r mre) than their parents were — s they spend like that as well. They dn’t take accunt f the effect f inflatin, which means that the cst f living is much higher than that in their parents’ generatin. Further, the mre yu earn, the mre yu pay in tax. Rather than fcusing n after-tax incmes, many high incme earners nly lk at the tp line figures. A $ 100,000 incme befre tax is nly abut $ 70,000 after tax.
    32. Wh is the text centered n?
    A. The upper middle class.B. The lwer incme grup.
    C. Peple living in pverty.D. Peple getting int debt.
    33. What causes sme peple t spend beynd their incme accrding t the text?
    A. Lack f real budget.B. Easy availability f credit.
    C. The gd ecnmic climate.D. Their privileged backgrunds.
    34. What des the authr intend t remind yung prfessinals abut in the end?
    A. They shuld fcus n their tp line figures.
    B. They need t lk ahead rather than lk back.
    C. They actually dn't earn as much as they think.
    D. They shuld frm gd persnal financial habits.
    35. Which f the fllwing might be discussed in the next paragraph?
    A. Effects f peer grup pressures.B. Ways t keep financial stability.
    C. Harm f pr mney management.D. Tips n reducing the risk f pverty.
