Tw weeks later, his respnse shwed up in my email bx. It was a scanned three-page dcument. Apparently, my dad had carefully cnsidered my message, reached back int his memry and crafted a respnse. In the letter, he shared his histry f lve, lnging, self-dubt, fears and struggles in life. He als ffered me sme practical suggestins n hw t handle my relatinship and career. While reading, I gt the sense that it must have been really tugh fr my dad t settle dwn in a new cuntry at an early age. I was als impressed by the great perseverance he shwed in the face f difficulty.
I clsed the email and started t cry. I cried because I wished I had pened up earlier but was grateful it wasn't t late. I cried because in the midst f my wn struggles, his letter instantly put me at ease. And I cried because in the end, it was s simple: I just had t hit “Send”. We've since had many exchanges. My prblems haven't been magically slved, but getting t knw my dad better—and learning t lve him mre—has made the tugh stuff mre manageable and life sweeter. At schl it isn't easy t learn a freign language well because the pupils dn't have a very gd language envirnment and they have s little time fr it. They are busy with ther subjects, t.
A man's mind is rather like a camera, but it takes phts nt nly f what we see but als f what we feel, hear, smell and taste.
