Brushes are traditinally made frm animal hair. The tips f the writing brush is f great imprtance, as sft r stiff bristles prduce a variety f effects. With a histry f ver ne thusand years, xuan paper plays a key rle in Chinese calligraphy and painting. T use the ink, the stick is rubbed with water n an ink stne. This traditinal methd f prducing liquid ink gives the calligrapher mre cntrl ver the thickness f the ink and its texture.
Timeline f Calligraphy Masterpieces
The earliest knwn examples are called jiaguwen that date back t the Shang Dynasty (c.1600-1046 BCE). These picture-like characters (文字) gradually evvled, and during the QinDynasty (221-207 BCE), a mre standardised calligraphy, xiazhuan began t emerge. During the HanDynasty (202 BCE-220 CE), lishu began t be widely used. This started a new age and led t mre fluent and supple scripts, such as kaishu, cashu and xingshu.
There is an ld saying that learning kaishu is like a baby learning t stand, with xingshu likened t walking, and cashu t running. This means-that ne shuld first master the basics befre prgressing t the next level. Or like the English saying.“Learn t walk befre yu run.”
One f the Greatest Masters f Chinese Calligraphy

Origami strategy
This year, there were eleven tasks. My strategy was t try t make masterpieces fr every task and ut f the eleven tasks, I medalled in five f them. I was unable t make a single masterpiece, but because I achieved abut eighty-percent f my gal, I fund great success. These medals were key t my secnd place win.
