Many peple arund me make a difference t the wrld n a daily basis—being kind in unexpected ways and sharing the genersity f their lives with thers.I,like many f them,vlunteer sme f my time in rder t give back just a little f what I am s blessed t have.I vlunteered t g t Guatemala with an eyeglasses team frm Internatinal Relief Teams—an rganizatin I have supprted in ther ways fr many years.
Our team went t a small twn in Guatemala,San Augustin.We set up ur tables and packages f pre-made glasses in the dirty curtyard f a clinic,put up the Snellen chart(an eye chart) n a wall,and began ur wrk.
Yung and ld peple came frm many f the surrunding twns.Mst had never received an eye exam befre.They waited fr hurs patiently in the sun,never cmplaining.If we culd help them ut,their thankfulness fr a simple pair f glasses was verwhelming.Sme nly left with eye drps r sunglasses,even s these peple expressed their gratitude sincerely.All f them were very generus with blessings and smiles.We heard ver and ver frm peple wh knew their eyes needed help but they had nt gne t a dctr because it was t expensive,r had nt gt the glasses they needed fr the same reasn.
It's s easy t verlk hw much difference the vlunteers' small actins can make t the lives f peple in Guatemala.Glasses in my cuntry are s easily available,but t peple in Guatemala,they are nt.
As thse wh culd give them a hand,we watched their lives change.What a gift sight is—and what a difference being able t see clearly makes!Here,we'd like yu t jin us and take actin t help peple in need.And every day,thse actins change lives.N actin is t small;n actin is ever wasted.
