Trsngan Bullik is a 28-year-ld crss-cuntry skier. When he was a freshman in junir high schl in 2009, he excelled at lng-distance running. As an amateur in 2016, he finished third in the Xinjiang Wusu Internatinal Marathn. And then a passin fr cycling revealed itself as his hmetwn hsted the Tur f Sayram Lake, a natinal rad race fr amateur cyclists.
“The high-spirited cyclists their flashy cstumes and helmets fascinated me,” he recalls. “I felt that cycling was really cl.”
In 2012, Trsngan’s father gave him a muntain bike that cst 5,000 yuan ($695), which was a lt f mney fr his family. He lved the bicycle s much that he used it at every pprtunity. Tw years later, he entered his first cmpetitin, althugh there was n fairy-tale ending as he lst his balance n a steep slpe. But he was determined and kept testing his limits. This paid ff as he has wn medals at all levels f the sprt in China.
On Oct 18, 2018, Trsngan was the first t crss the finish line during a high-altitude bike race in the Xizang autnmus regin. But surprisingly, it was the natinal crss-cuntry skiing team that he impressed with his endurance (耐力). They were in search f new talented athletes fr the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
Accepting the invitatin frm the team marked a turning pint fr Trsngan’s career, but challenges remained. “After training with the team during the day, I had t g t the gym t level up my upper-bdy strength in the evening,” Trsngan said in an earlier interview.
