I hurriedly dug ut my purse and pened my wallet. My heart drpped. He hadn’t returned it.
The gentleman in frnt f me had paid and was picking up his grceries.
“I’ve frgtten my bank card. Culd I pay with my phne?” I asked the cashier hpefully.
“I’m srry. We nly accept credit card r cash. The cashier lked dwn the lane, disgusted at the amunt f grceries. I’m sure she was predicting she’d have t put items back n the shelves.
“It will take me an hur t run hme and an hur back. Can yu just put my stuff n the side please?“I was discuraged. All my careful planning hadn’t helped. The hur and a half f shpping left me exhausted and I wasn’t sure hw my daughter wuld handle anther tw hurs in the car.
