The research assistants then lked at phts f the mannequins that participants had created and assessed their head psitins, arm psitins, and degrees f expansiveness—hw much space they tk up by standing straight r pening up different parts f their bdies. Then, the researchers cmpared these psitins t the feelings they suppsedly expressed.
Van Cappellen fund that peple viewed an expansive psture as representing dminance. But jy and respect were als represented by expansive pstures, with hpe invlving the least expansive psture. “We’re finding that psitive emtins are als marked by expansiveness—especially jy,” she says.
