It is a cld, dark winter evening-the kind f night that can have runners struggling t find the encuragement t run ut. But there will be nne f
the usual “shall-I-shan’t-I?” dialgue ging n in Sarah Dnaghy’s head, because tnight is Fd Bank Run.
Dnaghy, a teacher and the welfare fficer fr Fareham running club, rganised the first Fd Bank Run in February 2018. “The idea was that,
instead f ur usual training run, we’d fill backpacks with fd t dnate t the lcal fd bank and run there, where vlunteers wuld be waiting t
receive it,” she says. Dnaghy was expecting abut 20 members t take part: “I lst cunt by the time I gt t 70.”
Claire Jhnsn, the cmmunity team leader at the Waypint Hub, which huses fd bank, says, “It was an amazing and emtinal experience t
see s many runners arrive at ur building, bringing much-needed supplies.” But it wasn’t just the fd bank that benefited frm it. “The runners
lved it,” says Dnaghy. “The fllwing week after the first run, they were all asking when we culd d it again.”
A running equipment cmpany, Runr, jined t help with publicity and event cperatin, creating a Fd Bank Run website, cmplete with an
interactive (交互式的) map f events. “Last year, mre than 500 running grups, clubs, events and parkruns gt invlved, dnating mre than 77 tnnes
