Jacksn Galaxy, a cat behavir expert, says there are sme pretty strng feelings behind the cat’s slw blink. He calls it “I Lve Yu Blink”. Galaxy says the cat will blink slwly when cats and peple are cmpletely pening up t ne anther in sharing affectin.
Researchers carried ut tw experiments. In the first experiment, wners slw-blinked at 21 cats frm 14 different families. Once the cat was settled and cmfrtable in ne spt in their hme envirnment, the wners were asked t sit abut a meter away and slw-blink when the cat was lking at them. The secnd experiment included 24 cats frm 8 different families. This time, it wasn’t the wners ding the blinking but the researchers, wh’d had n earlier cntact with the cats. They fund that nt nly were the cats mre likely t blink back, but that they were mre likely t reach the human’s hand after the human had blinked.
Dr Tasmin Humphrey, the first authr f the study frm the University f Sussex, said: “Understanding psitive ways in which cats and humans interact can increase public understanding f cats, imprve its welfare, and tell us mre abut the sci-cgnitive(社会认知) abilities f this species.”

Arund 2 millin deaths each year are linked t physical inactivity. And a sedentary(久坐的) lifestyle is ne f the leading causes f death in the wrld.
A new study published in the jurnal f the American Cllege f Sprts Medicine suggests that regular shrt exercise “snacks” thrughut the wrking day might be enugh t mitigate the effects f a sedentary lifestyle.
Fr the study, 11 participants(参与者) sat fr 8-hur sessins. During the sessins, they fllwed ne f fur exercise “snacks”—I minute f walking after every 30 minutes f sitting, I minute after 60 minutes, 5 minutes every 30 minutes, and 5minutes every 60 minutes—r a “snack” with n walking.
The researchers fund that participants’ bld sugar and bld pressure levels were reduced after 5 minutes f walking fr every 30 minutes f sitting.
Lead study authr Dr Keith Diaz, assciate prfessr f behaviral medicine, said the mst exciting part f the new research is that they’ve answered hw t prevent the harmful health effects f sedentary sitting.
The researchers als fund that all exercise “snacks” resulted in a reductin in participants’ tiredness, and an imprvement in md when cmpared t n walking at all.
“Beynd imprving yur physical health,” Dr Diaz said, “having regular walks t break up yur sitting will put yu in a better md and help yu feel mre energetic.”
Dr Diaz added that the next steps fr the research include finding mre ways t reduce the harmful effects f sitting.
