Hwever, in mst parts f the wrld, marine cnservatin is stymied by ppsitin frm fishing, il, and mining interests. A mere 7 percent f the wrld’s cean has prtectin—mstly weak rules, and nly 2.5 percent is highly prtected. Outside f these znes, the cean’s stry is a cntinuing failure.
A few remaining parts f the cean are the last wild places f the sea—the marine equivalent f the remtest ld-grwth frest in the Amazn—still unaffected by verfishing, pllutin and climate change. Enric is wrking with the Natinal Gegraphic Sciety and tgether launched the Pristine Seas prject in 2008. Over the past 14 years, Pristine Seas has helped create 28 marine reserves, making up tw-thirds f the wrld’s fully prtected marine areas—cvering mre than tw millin square miles in all.
Nw Sala and his team have set an even mre ambitius gal: t see mre than a third f the wrld’s cean cnserved fr the purpse nt just f sustaining bidiversity but als f replenishing(补充)fish stcks and string carbn.
Pristine Seas wrked with native Palauans(帕劳人)t give an ancient cnservatin traditin a mdern change. Fr centuries, Palauans have used what they all “buls”, a Palauan wrd which means clsure, t preserve and rebuild their reef fish stcks. Over the years they have created 35 reserves t prtect marine life arund their islands, sme f which ban fishing permanently.
Sala and his team calculate that a 14-fld expansin f the fully prtected part f the cean, frm 2.5 percent t 35 percent, wuld prvide 64 percent f the bidiversity benefits while increasing the glbal fish catch by almst 10 millin metric tns. It is nt entirely understd, but it is prbably, in part, because smaller animals have a higher surface area relative t their vlume than bigger animals and can thus better release extra heat,” he writes. “It is a cmmn way that mammals deal with climate change”.
He added: “That's nt t say every species f mammal wuld get smaller, but it seems t be a cmmn survival trick f mammals when temperatures change pretty quickly. That des raise the questin: if s, might humans get smaller? And I think that certainly makes sense.”

根据第四段的“What had initially seemed like an easy task was turning ut t be an intense ne.(最初看起来是一项简单的任务,结果却变成了一项艰巨的任务)”可知,一开始作者只给妈妈非常简单的指导是因为作者认为在网上查看菜谱是非常简单的人物。故选D。
根据第五段中“Hwever, seeing her embarrassment, I began t regret my impatience.”(然而,看到她的尴尬,我开始后悔我的不耐烦)可知,在作者拿到菜谱之后,妈妈感到非常的尴尬。故选B。
    6.答案:A

It is nt entirely understd, but it is prbably, in part, because smaller animals have a higher surface area relative t their vlume than bigger animals and can thus better release extra heat(为什么它们变小了?这一点目前还不完全清楚,但部分原因可能是较小的动物比较大的动物有更高的表面积,因此可以更好地释放额外的热量)”可知,本段主要解释气候变化可能会导致动物身材变小的原因。故选B。
    14.答案:B
解析:推理判断题。从最后一段“If that was ging t happen, yu’d need t find large peple dying befre they culd reprduce because f climate warming. That is nt happening in tday’s wrld.(如果要发生这种情况,你需要找到因为气候变暖而无法繁衍的大个子。这在今天的世界是不会发生的。)”可知,他并不赞同上述研究的观点,对此表示怀疑。故选B。
    15.答案:C
解析:推理判断题。通读全文,尤其是第一段的“In a recent study, researchers have suggested that temperature is a majr predictr f bdy size variatin. Meanwhile, scientists studying red deer have said that warmer winters in nrthern Eurpe and Scandinavia may lead t the bdy size f these animals becming smaller.(在最近的一项研究中,研究人员认为温度是体型变化的主要预测因素。与此同时,研究马鹿的科学家表示,北欧和斯堪的纳维亚半岛的暖冬可能会导致这些动物的体型变小。)”可知,本文主要介绍了关于气候变化是否影响身体大小的科学研究,从文中的相关描述及文体可知其出处最有可能为:科学期刊。故选C。
