The highlight f the exhibitin is Huang Gngwang’s surviving wrk Dwelling in the Fuchun Muntains, which is cnsidered ne f the tp artistic paintings in China. Inspired by the still water and petic views alng Hangzhu’s Fuchun River, Huang painted the masterpiece between 1348 and 1350. It was literally burned int tw pieces during the reign f Emperr Shunzhi (1644-1661) in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Its last keeper, Wu Hngyu, lved the painting s much that he rdered it t be burned s he culd take it t the afterlife when he died. Wu’s nephew rescued the painting, which was already split int tw parts. The first smaller piece, slightly ver half a meter in length, was renamed The Brken Muntain (r Sheng Shan Tu) and made its way int the Zhejiang Museum in Hangzhu, while the ther went t the Palace Museum in Taipei. M: Gd afternn. Nw, I’ll tell yu ur swim classes at the Cmmunity Pl. Classes begin n Mnday, May 1st, and will cntinue thrughut the summer. Fifteen swim classes are being ffered. Each class lasts ten hurs. A new class starts each week f the summer. Each class csts $20. The pl is big enugh fr six students per class. Classes will increase in difficulty each week. Students can sign up fr as many classes as they like, but they must pass the skill level test. Fr example, students wh sign up fr Level 4 must shw their certificate fr cmpleting Level 3. Children cannt sign up fr a level they are nt ready fr. Children wh have never attended Cmmunity Pl classes must shw up n April 29th r 30th fr a swim skill shw. Instructrs will rate the students and assign them t a particular skill level.
