Bumblebee(大黄蜂) ppulatins have declined(下降) by 90 percent in the past 20 years. The decline f the bumblebees is highly cncerning as they are significant fr ecsystems. Kevan and the clleagues lked at 180 years f literature n the species and fund ne cmmn reasn acrss all bumblebee species that they can survive in temperatures up t 36 degrees Celsius, but the perfect temperature fr nests is between 28 t 32 degrees Celsius. They are unlikely t be able t adjust themselves t the extent that rising temperatures due t climate change require, the study reprts. While individual bees may be able t deal with increased heat better than thers, the study ntes that if nests are t ht, the grups will nt survive.
“The effect f high nest temperatures has nt been studied very much, which is surprising,” Kevan said. Similar studies have been dne n hneybees(蜜蜂), anther threatened yet highly imprtant species. This suggests further that heat stress is a majr factr in bees’ verall decline.
