FAST is a five-hundred-meter telescpe. It is als called Tian-yan("The Eye f Heaven"), with a dish size f 30 ftball grunds, deep in the muntains f suthwest China's Guizhu Prvince. The giant dish is built n a bwl-like valley.
The surrunding area has "radi silence" as there are n twns and cities within a 5-kilmeter radius(半径范围) and nly ne cunty center within 25 kilmeters.
