    That is the pssibility presented by “sund beaming”, a new technlgy frm Nvet Systems,
    an Israeli cmpany. On Friday, the cmpany intrduced a desktp device that sends sund directly t
    a listener withut the need fr headphnes r a special receiver.
    Nvet Systems gave The Assciated Press (AP) a chance t test its SundBeamer 1.0 befre its
    intrductin. The AP’s Luise Dixn writes that listening t the device is like smething frm a
    science fictin mvie.The sund seems s clse that it feels like it is inside yur ears while als in
    frnt, abve and behind them.
    Nvet expects the device will have many uses. Office wrkers culd listen t music r
    cnference calls withut thers hearing. Peple culd play a game, a mvie r music withut waking
    up thers in the same rm. Because the device des nt use headphnes, it is pssible t hear
    ther sunds in the rm clearly.

    The device uses a 3-D sensing mdule that finds and fllws the ear psitin f the listener. It
    sends ultrasnic waves (超声波) t create sund pckets by the user’s ears. The 3-D methd creates
    sund n all sides f the listener, therefre the listeners feel cmpletely transprted int the scene.
    By changing a setting, the sund can fllw a listener arund when he mves his head. It is als
    pssible t mve ut f the sund beam's path and hear nthing at all.
    While the idea f sund beaming is nt new, Nvet was the first t launch the technlgy.
    Accrding t the chief executive fficer Christphe Ramstein, a “smaller” versin f the device
    will be ready fr release t cnsumers next year.

    American musician and sund artist wh is nw based in Berlin, takes a different way, wrking with
    the machine learning sftware called Spawn. The sftware uses artificial neural netwrks mdeled
    after the structure f the human brain. These netwrks learn patterns frm datasets during the
    training prcess. Based n the data, the netwrks create new material that includes Herndn’s wn
    vice.

    When prducing her album, PROTO, Hlly trained datasets t write new music. The prcess
    requires the input data f music written by peple r by artificial intelligence (AI). The neural
    netwrks then prduce variatins f that music. “Cmputers surprise yu in a way that an
    instrument desn’t,” Hlly said. S what des music sund like when cmpsed by what is
    essentially a rbt? It sunds like music frm the future!
    But Hlly Herndn isn’t the nly ne explring AI in cmpsitin. Machines have played an
    increasingly imprtant rle in music ver the last century. The gdfather f cmputer science, Alan
    Turing, develped the first cmputer generated music in 1951. Then in 1980. David Cpe frm the
    University f Califrnia, Santa Cruz develped EMI — Experiments in Musical Intelligence, a system
    that analyzes existing music and prduces new pieces based n it.
    AI might nt take ver the jb f the “pp star” anytime sn, r will it? Miquela Susa is a
    cmputer-generated artist with ver ne millin fllwers n Instagram. “I’m a mdel and singer.
    And I’m a rbt,” Miquela said. This then raises the questin: Can we reprduce creativity using a
    cmputer?
    Thugh thse questins are nt easy t answer, I believe the next frntier f music lies
    smewhere in between. I can see the path frward with a new dawn f creativity that cmbines
    human inventiveness with AI. And the next chapter f music will certainly becme wnderful as
