Dar and his clleagues are hired by the lcal gvernment t feed the hungry birds as weather cnditins in the regin became wrse. “Since
December, temperatures have drpped t—10℃ and there have been tw heavy snwfalls, which have blanketed the vast rice fields and fruit farms in
the area. Scres f wetlands and lakes, including parts f the famus Dal Lake, have been cvered up by thick ice in Kashmir,” Dar added.
The cries f hundreds f thusands f birds that visit Kashmir during their winter migratin(迁徙)have lng been a welcme nise fr the lcals. They
arrive frm as far away as eastern Eurpe, Japan and Turkey t feed and prduce babies in the wetlands. Officials say at least 700, 000 birds have mved
t Kashmir in the past tw mnths and expect mre t arrive as temperatures imprve in February.
In recent decades, the number f visiting birds has declined, which experts say is due t climate change and urban develpment. “Cnstructin
arund the Hkersar wetland, pisnus waste and the changing climate in the area are rbbing the birds f their traditinal watering hles and nesting
    areas,” Dar explained.
Accrding t a recent study by the University f Kashmir, the Hkersar wetland shrank(缩小)frm nearly 19 square kilmeters in 1969 t 12.8 square
kilmeters tday. Frtunately, envirnmental grups and lcal residents are als jining hands t feed the hungry birds in the icy cnditins.

Thai restaurants in America. “It can be fried r rasted. But if yu live n a cast, r have access t first-rate fish, steaming is the best way t g.”
Anther reasn is that, in the right cntext, fish stand fr gd luck. The Chinese wrds fr “fish” and “plenty” have the same prnunciatin,
and a fish, eaten n the eve f the lunar new year, represents a wish fr plenty f gd things t cme. Therefre, enugh fish shuld be cked t
ensure leftvers, which mean hpes fr abundance in the year ahead.
Such lucky dishes are nt unique t Asians. On New Year’s Day in America, black sutherners have been eating Hppin’ Jhn, a delicius dish f
rice and black-eyed beans(豆), cked with salted prk r smked ham(interest in African-American culture has made the recipe ppular elsewhere). The
beans symblize cins, and the greens that are usually served as well stand fr dllar bills. Sme peple even put a clean cin in the pt. Whever gets it
n their plate will enjy a lt f gd luck.
Diverse as these dishes are, they all represent hpes fr gd frtune. Fish, beans and greens are neither cstly nr extrardinary, suggesting that
luck is nt smething bught expensively r sught with difficulty. Gd frtune, they suggest, lies all arund, and is always within reach.
Whether anyne actually believes in the relatinship between eating these fds and receiving the prmised benefits is unclear. Mainly, these fd

fr BitPaintr is simple: A user just uplads a picture, and it can paint ttally n its wn and develp its wn style.

Althugh his friends jke that he has invented a really expensive, slw, bad painter, Van Arman says teaching a machine hw t be creative has
helped him get t the bttm f what creativity is—and appreciate it.
”When yu’re trying t teach a machine t d smething that’s easy fr humans, it really makes yu sit back and see what humans are ding,“
    he says.
S what is creativity, then, if a rbt with a paintbrush can be-r appear t be-just as creative as a human with a paintbrush?
Mark Riedl, a prfessr at the Gergia Tech Schl f Interactive Cmputing, says it depends n hw yu define creativity. ”There is creativity and
Creativity,“ Riedl says. ”Being ‘creative’ usually has smething t d with the little things that we d hundreds f times in ur daily lives. They culd

f the wrld; the peple wh have prduced smething that’s taken n this additinal level f meaning.“
Riedl admits what rbts create is far frm human-level quality art, but he sees rbts entering the creative prcess as a psitive thing.
”We want the cmputers t keep up with us,“ he says. ”And thanks t researchers like Van Arman, it seems like they will, althugh they will nt

D.They can help us t d daily things in mre “creative” ways.
【小题4】What can be a suitable title fr the text?
A.Can BitPaintr-like Rbts Replace Artists in the Future?
B.Why D Peple Have Sharply Different Views n AI Rbts?

D.Can BitPaintr Be Cnsidered a “Creative” Painting Sftware?
