I had depended n a walking stick t g anywhere fr seven weeks, recvering frm surgery (外科手术), and I culdn’t find a way t cheer myself up. The phne rang fr the sixth time in less than an hur. We knew wh it was. My mther had been suffering frm dementia (痴呆). There was little we culd d t help her. As her eldest daughter, I tried my best t help her. Thugh we visited every few days, she believed that her daughters had nt visited in mnths. She thught that her friend Jimmy never wanted t see her again, even thugh he called her and visited weekly. She had n idea that she had repeated the things she was abut t say a hundred times tday and a hundred times the day befre. She had n idea that I had undergne surgery, and nr culd she remember her wn granddaughter’s name. She frgt mst f her wn past. This time, I gt angry with my mther. “Mm!” I shuted. “We care abut yu. We visited tw days ag! Mm, yu have t believe me, and if yu dn’t, I cannt talk t yu anymre!”
    Silence. Then she said, “I am nly calling t say hell. Why are yu shuting?” “I’m shuting because yu keep calling me a hundred times every single day! I’m shuting because yu are asking me the same questin a thusand times every time yu call me! I’m shuting because I have repeated the answer ten thusand times! I’m shuting because I dn’t knw what t say!” I sat n the sfa, realizing that my daughter was watching me. She heard me blame my mther, heard me lse my patience and say that smene I lved was a burden (负担). She thught that her friend Jimmy never wanted t see her again, even thugh he called her and visited weekly. 她以为她的朋友Jimmy再也不想来看望她了,尽管他每周都给她打电话并拜访她。 本句是主从复合句。that引导宾语从句,作“thught”的宾语;even thugh引导让步状语从句。 2. I’m shuting because yu are asking me the same questin a thusand times every time yu call me! 我大喊是因为你每次打电话都会无数次问我同样的问题! 本句是主从复合句。because引导原因状语从句;every time引导时间状语从句。
    续写第一段的开头语:“我五岁的女儿要求和她的外祖母通电话。”“我”对母亲不耐烦、发脾气,女儿是在看到这一情形后要求与外祖母通电话的。接下来可以构思:“我”把电话交给女儿,然后听到祖孙俩在电话里进行的交谈。着重写两人的谈话内容,要体现出女儿的态度与“我”刚刚对母亲的表现形成对比。 续写第二段的开头语:“我看着女儿熟练地关心她的外祖母。”看到这一情景,“我”应该会反思自己的行为,为呵斥母亲而惭愧自责。可以写:女儿的做法引起“我”的反思,对比“我”和女儿的不同做法,“我”感到羞愧。最后可以写女儿让“我”明白了什么或者“我”在认识到错误后做了什么,比如道歉。

After patiently answering thse questins again, my five-year-ld ffered t sing t her grandmther.
    ①“handed it ver”与本段开头紧密衔接:女儿要与外祖母通话,于是作者便递过电话。②根据上文可知,作者刚发完脾气,蜷缩在沙发上,心情不悦,“withut saying anything”符合人物情绪,表达作者不想交流。③通过“greeted”“say excitedly”“shared” “laughter”“repeated her questins” “patiently answering”“ffered t sing”等描写凸显了祖孙间的温馨互动,与前文作者对母亲的态度形成鲜明对比。

She answered all f her grandma’s questins with great patience and was willing t d smething t make her happy, while I just gt mad and yelled at my mther. ⑤At that mment I felt extremely ashamed.     ④女儿的做法让作者反思了自己的行为,“mad”与“yelled”分别与材料中的“angry”和“shuted”呼应。⑤作者感到羞愧,并迫切地想要向母亲道歉。故事以作者向母亲道歉结尾。如果最后作者除了“道歉”,再总结从中吸取的教训,如以“My five-year-ld daughter taught me abut patience.”结尾,会给作文加分。
