    T slve this prblem, cmmunities are bringing libraries t where the kids are: in the streets. The little libraries cnsist f bxes that are set up utside f huses r public spaces and are filled with bks. Peple can take bks they haven't read and dnate nes they have t the libraries.
    Street Library Australia, a nnprfit, was started by Nick Lwe after he saw a Little Free Library n a trip t the USA. After an initial wrkshp in 2015 t build 30 libraries, the idea mushrmed and nw there are 4,500 registered street libraries in Australia. “It just grew and grew,” he said.
    The libraries cme in all shapes and sizes. These libraries are cmpletely vluntary and anyne can start ne.
    Pamela Zielke, wh runs a library called Pam's Pantry, gives ut tys and craft supplies alng with bks. An early childhd educatr, she started her library with the gal f rescuing bks frm dustbins. But the libraries are ding much mre than just prviding bks and ther dnated items t peple. The street libraries are als building cmmunity. “It's a little stpping place utside yur huse,” said Lwe. “It's a great way t meet peple in yur neighbrhd wh are als bk lvers, recycle bks, and find new bks.”
    These Little Street Libraries prvided a valuable service during the utbreak f COVID­19 and the ppularity has nt waned. Peple use them t find bks n specific hbbies like cking, children are develping a lve f reading bks, and it is mre cnvenient than ging t a bkstre r a brick­and­mrtar library.
