Givanni Bccacci (1313—1375)
When a plague(瘟疫) hit Flrence in 1348, Italian writer Givanni Bccacci lst his father and stepmther. In rder t survive, he left the city and hid in the cuntryside. Inspired by the experience, Bccacci wrte The Decamern (《十日谈》), a cllectin f shrt nvels framed as stries tld by a grup f friends, while he was quarantined (隔离) inside a huse during the plague.
William Shakespeare (1564—1616)
In 1606, a plague hit Lndn, UK. When death number grew, the gvernment pstpned many celebratins and clsed all the theaters. As an actr and dramatist, Shakespeare had t stp wrking in the playhuse. But he didn't waste a secnd f his time ff. Instead, he used the time prductively and wrte sme f his mst famus plays. Befre the year was ver, Shakespeare cmpleted three plays—King Lear, Macbeth and Antny and Clepatra.
Isaac Newtn (1643—1727)
In 1665, when Isaac Newtn was in his early 20s, the utbreak f the plague struck the UK, and many classes were canceled. Newtn, as a student, went back hme t cntinue his studies. He devted himself t his studies. The yung mathematician prduced sme f his best wrks during his year in quarantine, writing the papers that wuld later becme early calculus (微积分学),and develping his theries n ptics(光学). While wrking, an apple drpped frm the apple tree utside his windw and hit him n the head, which inspired his thery f gravity.

Near-sight happens when eyeballs are lnger than nrmal, changing the angle at which light enters the eye and therefre the ability t fcus n distant bjects. The disrder invlves a cmplex interplay(相互作用) f genetics and envirnment and usually begins befre adlescence when the eye is grwing, but it can wrsen in early adulthd.
Sme experts cnnect the rising rates t the many hurs yung peple stare at cmputers and ther screens. But a recent study published in JAMA Ophthalmlgy suggests that a greater factr may be a side effect f all that screen-watching—it's keeping children inside.

Our mther was utside watering the garden, ttally unaware f the danger appraching her frm behind. We silently cunted t three and began shwering her with water. She turned arund and std still as we finished the last f ur supply. Only when she thught ur guns were empty did she dare t speak a wrd. Hwever, when she began t lecture us, a water ‘bullet’ sht frm my gun, smacking (啪的一声打) her right eye, and she lst her temper.
We ran t the living rm with ur mther clse behind and barely reached the dr in time t shut her ut. She began punding at it and shuting at us t let her in, but we had n idea that this was all an act. She actually had her wn plan.
