Because f COVID-19, many new methds are being frmed fr scial cmmunicatin. Hwever, there is ne lder methd that is becming ppular again. It is called the drive-in mvie theater, r mre cmmnly, a drive-in. Drive-ins began arund 1915, the first being in New Mexic. The idea sn spread arund the cuntry. Six years later, Texas pened their first drive-in and New Jersey pened their first in 1933. Drive-ins are a way t watch mvies withut being packed int a mvie theater. Drive-ins play a mvie n a large screen, usually in a parking lt r an pen space. Being able t sit in yur wn car and watch a mvie can be a mre pleasant experience fr mst peple. Unfrtunately, mst drive-ins failed in the past 20 years. Because mre peple mved int the cities, the suburban drive-in didn’t have a reliable custmer base. Cities dn’t have pen spaces big enugh t perate these theaters either. Anther reasn is that the high il prices als make peple drive less. Befre COVID-19, drive-ins cnsisted f nly 1.5% f all mvie screens in the USA, which is a huge drp frm when they made up ver 25% during their peak. Currently, drive-ins are making their return. Nw with better technlgy, the mvie picture will be much better than when drive-ins were at their mst ppular time. Peple feel safer abut sitting in their wn cars while watching, rather than sitting in a theater.
