Panglins (穿山甲) are the mst trafficked (非法交易) mammals in the wrld and are facing extinctin. T draw attentin t these scaly (有鳞片的), anteater­like animals, a new wildlife dcumentary, Eye f the Panglin, is attempting a unique way t inspire actin and cnservatin. Partnering with the nn­prfit rganizatin Panglin Africa, the dcumentary was made available n YuTube in May 2019. The intentin is t reach cmmunities wherever the Internet is available, especially African cmmunities, wh live near the animal's habitats.
Over tw years, the dcumentary crew traveled t Suth Africa, Ghana, Central African Republic and Gabn in search f the fur unique species f panglin, which has never been achieved befre. Filmmakers Bruce Yung and Jhan Vermeulen say that they went int the sht knwing relatively little abut panglins, but grew t respect and appreciate the animals. Getting clse t the creatures ver tw years was a crash curse in these secretive creatures. Jhan Vermeulen said, “One thing hwever that might seem unimprtant is that they are actually quite fussy eaters. Yu wuld think they wuld eat any type f ant, but they all prefer a specific type ant.”
