C. Limitatins in simplifying details. D. Inability t get smaller grids.
34. What des the team aim t d?
A. Investigate serius issuesB. Guarantee the safety f the city
C. Change the future climate. D. Imprve the accuracy f the mdels.
35. What can be inferred frm the last paragraph?

29. D。 根据第四段中的“Native t parts f Sutheast Asia, Siamese crcdiles are critically endangered and have becme virtually extinct in the wild. Due t hunting as well as habitat lss, they are nw absent frm nearly 99% f their riginal range.(暹罗鳄原产于东南亚部分地区,是极度濒危的动物,在野外几乎已经灭绝。
根据画线处“The particular handbag that is n display at the z was(在动物园展出的那个特别的手提包被)”以及“at a UK airprt(在英国机场)”可知,这只在动物园展出的手提包是在英国机场查封的,画线处和C项:Seized(没收,查封)含义接近。故选C。
31.B。 根据最后一段中的“We made this exhibit, within ZSL Lndn Z’s Reptile Huse, t draw visitrs’ attentin t the destructive impact the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) is having n species arund the wrld.
根据第一段中的“Climate mdels can give us a preview f hw humanity’s actins—r inactin—will change ur planet ver the cming decades and centuries.(气候模型可以让我们预览人类的行为——或不作为——将如何在未来几十年和几个世纪改变我们的星球。)”以及“Scientists and engineers frm acrss the cuntry are teaming up t build a new type f climate mdel that is designed t prvide mre precise and actinable predictins.(来自全国各地的科学家和工程师正在合作建立一种新型的气候模型,旨在提供更精确和可操作的预测。)”
根据第二段中的“Current climate mdeling relies n dividing up the glbe int a grid (网格) and then cmputing what is ging n in each sectr f the grid, as well as hw the sectrs interact with each ther. Limitatins in available cmputer prcessing pwer mean that thse sectrs generally cannt be any smaller than tens f kilmeters per side. But fr climate mdeling, the devil is in the details-details that get missed in a t-large grid.(目前的气候模型依赖于将全球划分成一个网格,然后计算网格中每个区域的情况,以及区域之间是如何相互作用的。
根据第三段“Weighing recent advances in the cmputatinal and data sciences, the team plans t step in and each f the partners brings a different strength and research expertise t the prject. ‘Our gal is a new mdel that prjects future changes in critical variables such as clud cver, sea ice extent, and rainfall mre accurately-with uncertainties at least half the size f thse in existing mdels,’ said Dr. Andrew, the team leader.(考虑到计算和数据科学的最新进展,该团队计划进行深入研究。
根据最后一段“One dubter abut the applicatin f climate mdels is Raffaele Ferrari, a Cecil and Ida Green Prfessr f Oceangraphy at MIT. ‘Using a mdel, we becme puppeteers, masters f a giant system that is, in truth, beynd human cntrl. We can cl r heat the planet at will, add salt r ice r rain r dust in any amunt we want,’ Dr. Ferrari says. ‘We have n backup planet. Hw climate mdels are used remains t be seen.’
36.A。前文引出culture这个话题,根据后文“Scilgists define the nn-material aspects f culture as the values and beliefs, language, cmmunicatin and practices that are shared in cmmn by a grup f peple.(社会学家将文化的非物质方面定义为一群人共有的价值观、信仰、语言、交流和实践。)” A项“It is cmpsed f bth nn-material and material things.(它由非物质的和物质的东西组成。)” 故选A。
37.C。后文提到“It infrms hw we walk, sit, carry ur bdies and interact with thers; hw we behave depending n the place, time and ‘audience’;and hw we express identities f race, class and gender, amng thers.(它体现在我们走路、坐着、运用身体以及与他人互动的方式中;我们的行为取决于地点、时间和’观众’;以及我们如何表达种族、阶级和性别等身份。)” C项“Culture is als what we d and hw we behave and perfrm.(文化也是我们所做的以及我们的行为和表现。)”
38.D。根据第三段中的“This aspect f culture includes a wide variety f things, frm buildings, technlgical gadgets and clthing, t film, music, literature and art, amng thers.(这方面的文化包括各种各样的东西,从建筑、科技产品和服装,到电影、音乐、文学和艺术等等。)”可知,能通过建筑、科技等方式体现的文化指的是文化的物质方面,D项“Material culture is cmpsed f the things that humans make and use.(物质文化是由人类制造和使用的东西组成的。)”
39. F。根据前文“Material culture emerges frm and is shaped by the nn-material aspects f culture.(物质文化产生于文化的非物质方面,并由其塑造。)”可知,文化的物质和非物质方面是相互影响的,尤其是非物质方面会影响物质方面,F项“In ther wrds, what we value, believe and knw influences the things that we make.(换句话说,我们所重视的、相信的和知道的影响着我们所做的事情。)”
40.G。前文已经提到“Material culture can als influence the nn-material aspects f culture.(物质文化也能够影响非物质文化。)” (Fr example, a great dcumentary film might change peple’s attitudes and beliefs.),这正好是对前文观点的例证。同时,与后文“This is why cultural prducts tend t fllw patterns.(这是为什么文化产品往往遵循一定的模式。)”
42.A。 unfld“(故事)展开,讲述”;find“发现;展现”;release“释放;松开”;lie“躺”。 故选A。
45.A。 alarm“使惊恐”;call“大声呼叫”;remind“使想起”;amaze“使惊奇”。根据下文的“Ramsay, a paddler (桨手), paddled tward the chas”可知,Ramsay 被呼救声惊动,向混乱的人群划去。故选A。
46.A。 故选A。
47.B。 根据空处所在句“... bubbles rising t the surface near his paddle-bard led him t 47 that the by was flded at that spt...”
根据第二段中的“saved a teenage by frm a life-threatening situatin”以及第三段中的“diving 15 feet t the lake’s bttm t lcate the uncnscius teenager”可知,Ramsay在危及生命的情况下救了一个十几岁的男孩,他潜入15英尺深的湖底,找到这名昏迷的少年,这表现出了他非凡的勇气。故选D。
51.A。 故选A。
52.B。 根据下文的“The wman leaned acrss her paddle-bard ... while 53 Ramsay and the by ...”
stare at“盯着”;pull ver“靠边停车”;pick up“捡起;接载;学会;收听(信号)”;hld nt“紧紧抓住”。
casually“随意地”;ccasinally“偶然地”;apparently“显然”;eventually“最终”。
56.was recgnized。 设空处在句中作谓语动词,根据“At the 2024 China Ice and Snw Turism Develpment Frum held n Friday in Harbin”可知,此句陈述过去发生的事情,主语Harbin Ice and Snw Wrld与动词 recgnize之间为被动关系,此句谓语动词用一般过去时的被动语态;Harbin Ice and Snw Wrld作主语,谓语动词用第三人称单数形式,故填was recgnized。
57.which。 分析句子结构可知,“ 57 cmbines ice,snw,sund and lights”为非限制性定语从句,设空处指代先行词The park在从句中作主语,先行词The park 指物,故填which。
58.fficially。
59.Turists。
60.built。
62.welcming。 The 40th Harbin Internatinal Ice and Snw Festival与动词welcme之间构成逻辑上的主动关系,故填现在分词welcming作状语表主动。
63.but。 nt nly ... but als...“不仅……
64.t prmte。
65.ppularity。

Mrs. Thmpsn pened it in the middle f the ther presents. Inside the heavy, brwn paper, she fund a small bx, with sme dirty hand prints bviusly seen. Upn sptting this ugly item, his classmates burst int laughter while Teddy lwered his head awkwardly, speechless. Curiusly, Mrs. Thmpsn pened it, her hands cvering her muth in n time and tears welling up frm her eyes. Laid inside was a single, perfect white seashell with a nte written in Teddy’s untidy handwriting: “Fr yu, Mrs. Thmpsn. Thank yu fr being my teacher.” At that mment, mixed feelings swept ver her. She culdn’t cntain her emtin and rushed t hug Teddy tightly.
After the children left, she cried fr at least an hur. Each tear that fell carried a weight f regret. She reflected n all the times she had judged Teddy withut truly understanding his struggles. Hw culd she have been s cruel t a pr by? Then she made a silent prmise t be mre careful and understanding t her students. Frm that day frward, Mrs. Thmpsn did everything she culd t reach ut t him. When marking his papers, she ffered him mre encuragement and supprt. Slwly but surely, she began t see a change in him. Smetimes genuine care can truly make a difference t thers’ life, whether yu’re a teacher r smebdy else.
Thmpsn pened it in the middle f the ther presents.”,再结合文本最后一段“Teddy给老师的圣诞节礼物明显不如其他学生的漂亮”可知,本段续写的主要内容为:牛皮纸里面包的是什么;同学们看到礼物的反应;老师的反应。
根据续写第二段开头语“After the children left, she cried fr at least an hur.” Mrs.
