I grew up in a pr family. This was smething I did nt realize until I was lder. I thught everyne in the city tk the bus, because everyne in my neighbrhd tk the bus. I thught everyne in the city used the fd bank, because all my friends’ cupbards were filled with the same gvernment-labeled fd that filled my cupbards. We all wre hand-me-dwn clthes.
Grcery shpping was my first experience understanding that my family was a little different. My mm used paper mney that lked different frm the paper mney thers in line were using. In high schl, I was still embarrassed and wished we were nt s pr, but I lved my mm and the ther members f my family and knew we had things t be prud f. My mther wh was a great wman with wisdm taught me hw t lve and tld me t believe in myself. Grwing up in pverty taught me perseverance (毅力). I have always believed in myself and my abilities.
