When I was a little girl, I liked drawing, freely and jyusly making marks n the walls at hme. In primary schl, I learned t write using chalks. Writing seemed t be anther frm f drawing. I shaped individual letters int repeating lines, which were abstract frms, delightful but meaningless patterns.
In secndary schl, art was my favurite subject. Since I lved it s much I thught I was gd at it. Fr the art O- level exam I had t present an il painting. I fund it difficult, but still hped t pass. I failed, with a lw grade.I'd been ver- cnfident. Nw I'd been declared talentless.
But ther channels f creativity stayed pen: I went n writing pems and stries. Still,I went t exhibitins ften. I cntinued my habitual drawing, which I nw characterised as childish ddling (乱画). In my 30s, I made painter friends and learned new ways f lking at art. Hwever, I culdn't let myself have a g at actually ding it. Thugh these new friends were abstract painters using il paints, r were printmakers r sculptrs, I tk il painting as the tab(禁忌) high frm I wasn't allwed t practice.
One night, in my early 40s,I dreamed that a big wman in red apprached me, handed me a bag f paints, and tld me t start painting. The dream felt s authritative that it shk me. It was a frm f energy, giving me back smething I’d lst. Accrdingly, I started by experimenting with water clrs. Finally, I bught sme il paints.
Althugh I have enjyed breaking my decades- lng tab abut wrking with il paints, I have discvered I nw prefer chalks and ink. I let my line drawings turn int cartns I send t friends. It all feels free and easy. Un- anxius. This time arund, I can accept my limitatins but keep ging.

Orienteering(定向越野) invlves running, jgging r walking, and using a map and cmpass t mve between places. It's a great way t have fun utdrs with friends and family. The aim is t mve between pints, called cntrls, in a certain rder in the quickest time. Beginners' events will have easier cntrls t find and cver less distance — perhaps a mile r tw. Fr experienced rienteers, the length f the curse culd be much lnger and take in hills and rugh grund.
Orienteers are given a“ cntrl descriptin sheet” t help them find each pint. This sheet has details f features t lk fr, like paths and rivers, and a cde that must match the cde at each cntrl. Yu will either mark yur sheet at each cntrl r check in with an electrnic card.
When yu start rienteering, yu will learn map- reading skills. A helpful tip is t keep yur thumb n the spt that shws yur lcatin n the map. Keep it the right way rund: the features in frnt f yu n the grund shuld be in frnt f yu n the map.
Orienteering maps can have five r six clrs. Black areas shw human features, like buildings; brwn shws the cntur (轮廓) lines ( height f the land); and blue shws water, such as lakes and rivers. White and green tgether shw wdlands; yellw areas represent grass and pen areas. On rienteering maps, a curse cnsists f a triangle, circles, a duble circle and smetimes cnnecting lines. The triangle is the start, the duble circle is the finish, and all the circles in between are checkpints.
As yu run between pints by what yu hpe is the quickest rute, yu can take in the scenery arund yu and have a great time chsing yur path and trying t finish in a fast time.

    第Ⅱ卷 非选择题
    第三部分:写作(共三节,满分25分。)
    第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
    阅读下面短文,按照要求完成阅读任务。
Science has a lt f uses. It can uncver laws f nature, cure diseases, make bmbs, and help bridges t stand up. Indeed science is s gd at what it des that there's always a temptatin (诱惑) t drag it int prblems where it may nt be helpful. David Brks, authr f The Scial Animal: The Hidden Surces f Lve, Character, and Achievement, appears t be the latest in a lng line f writers wh have failed t resist the temptatin.
Brks gained fame fr several bks. His latest bk The Scial Animal, hwever, is mre ambitius and serius than his earlier bks. It is an attempt t deal with a set f weighty tpics. The bk fcuses n big questins: What has E science revealed abut human nature? What are the surces f character? And why are sme peple happy and successful while thers aren't?
T answer these questins, Brks surveys a wide range f disciplines. Cnsidering this, yu might expect the bk t be a dry recitatin (背诵) f facts. But Brks has structured his bk in an unrthdx(非常规的), and perhaps unfrtunate way. Instead f intrducing scientific theries, he tells a stry, within which he tries t make his pints, perhaps in rder t keep the reader's attentin. S as Harld and Erica, the her and herine in his stry, live thrugh childhd, we hear abut the science f child develpment and as they begin t date we hear abut the thery f sexual attractin. Brks carries this thrugh t the death f ne f his characters.
On the whle, Brks’ stry is acceptable if uninspired. As ne wuld expect, his writing is mstly clear and, t be fair, sme chapters stand ut abve the rest. I enjyed, fr instance, the chapter in which Harld discvers hw t think n his wn. While Harld and Erica are certainly nt strng r memrable characters, the mre serius prblems with The Scial Animal lie elsewhere. These prblems partly invlve Brks’ attempt t translate his tale int science.
    51. What is the main idea f Paragraph 2? ( N mre than 10 wrds)
    52. Why des Brks use a stry t intrduce scientific theries? ( N mre than15 wrds)
    53. accrding t The Scial Animal, hw can we learn abut the science f child develpment? ( N mre than 10 wrds)
    54. Please explain the underlined wrd“ weighty” in English. ( N mre than 1 wrd)
    55. D yu like Brks' way f dealing with science in The Scial Animal? Why?( N mre than 20 wrds)
