    Basketball is big in France t. Yu can even watch NBA games n TV. The girl stpped t buy sme bread with her mum.
    I saw them again by the river. They sat n a bench enjying their fd in frnt f a lng, narrw riverbat named Vyageur. Then they barded the bat. It was preparing t leave. Suddenly, I sptted a clrful shpping bag n the bench. The girl had left it! I lked up. Sme passengers were gathering n the upper deck (甲板) f the riverbat, including the girl and her mum. I held up the bag and waved it t get their attentin while Gabriel called t them.
    When the girl nticed the bag, she pened her muth in surprise. But her face fell as the bat started t pull away frm the dck (码头). She didn’t think she’d get the stuff back.
    Running alngside the bat Gabriel learned frm a sailr that the bat’s next stp was Mâcn—— ur destinatin as well. It wuld take the bat just under tw hurs at a speed f 22 kilmeters per hur.“ What can we d then?” he said.

We had n time t fix it. “Yu g n withut me!” I urged him. “I’ll catch up smehw.” Withut arguing, Gabriel ndded, tk the bag frm me, and sped ff dwn the rad. I watched him disappear int the distance, feeling a mix f frustratin and hpe. I quickly pushed my bike ff t the side and started running. Despite the setback, I wasn’t giving up. As I neared Mâcn, I saw Gabriel waiting by the dck, a triumphant grin n his face. The bat had just arrived, and the girl was jyfully hlding her shpping bag, waving t us in gratitude.
