When she was yung, Sylvia Clt- Lacay nticed she was particularly fascinated with n- screen stries. Media ffered an escape when life was hard.
Watching Glee, she was thrilled t see a character wh used a wheelchair like her — until she learned the rle was played by an actr wh was nt disabled. “I remember feeling s heartbrken and betrayed (背叛), fr n reasn ther than the fact that I felt seen fr nce as a 10- year- ld watching Glee, and the pwer f that,” says Clt- Lacay.
Nw, Clt- Lacay is graduating frm Stanfrd with a degree in film and media studies and is heading t Hllywd with a passin fr increasing disability representatin and diversity in general. “Representatin matters, and I als think that diverse strytelling is what is mst cmpelling (令人信服的),” she said.
Representatin shaped Clt- Lacay’s path t Stanfrd. As a disabled Latina girl, she struggled t imagine ging t cllege, in part because she never saw adult wheelchair users in the media. In high schl, she met- anther Stanfrd student wh was als a wheelchair user at a cnference. Suddenly, a new stry felt pssible.
When she arrived at Stanfrd, Clt- Lacay knew she was ften the first visibly disabled student her prfessrs and peers had interacted with. Her parents had taught her t advcate fr herself, and while she desn’t claim the label “activist”, she asks fr what she needs.
“Yes, there’s smething that is in my DNA that makes my bdy different frm ther peple’s. But really, what makes me disabled is that peple treat me differently, and I d nt have equal access t resurces,” she said.
She brught this perspective t her Stanfrd experience. Fr her senir thesis (论文), she wrte a screenplay examining hw grwing up with a disability impacts ne’s relatinship with neself and ne’s understanding f the wrld.
Clt- Lacay aims t becme an agent fr screenwriters and film direętrs. She hpes that sharing her stry gives thers the example she wished fr when she was yung.
    24. Hw did Clt- Lacay initially feel while watching Glee?

    C. Heartbrken and betrayed.D. Srrwful and sympathetic.
    25. What helped Clt- Lacay picture herself ging t cllege?
    A. Her keen interest in films and media.
    B. Diverse stries she heard abut disability.
    C. An example f a disabled Stanfrd student.
    D. A passin fr increasing disability representatin.
    26. What insight did Clt- Lacay gain abut living with a disability?

    B. It mainly invlves vercming physical limitatins.
    C. It ffers special advantages fr accessing resurces.
    D. It influences ne’s utlk n the wrld and neself.
    27. What is the best title f the text?
    A. Telling Stries That MatterB. Speaking up fr Equality
    C. Struggling t Enter StanfrdD. Cnquering Physical Challenges
    【答案】24 A 25. C 26. D 27. A
根据第二段中“Watching Glee, she was thrilled t see a character wh used a wheelchair like her —— until she learned the rle was played by an actr wh was nt disabled.( 她看了《欢乐合唱团》后非常激动,因为剧中有一个像她一样使用轮椅的角色,直到她发现这个角色是由一个没有残疾的演员扮演的。)”以及““I remember feeling s heartbrken and betrayed (背叛), fr n reasn ther than the fact that I felt seen fr nce as a 10- year- ld watching Glee, and the pwer f that,” says Clt- Lacay. 故选A。
根据第四段“In high schl, she met- anther Stanfrd student wh was als a wheelchair user at a cnference.
根据倒数第二段中“She brught this perspective t her Stanfrd experience. Fr her senir thesis (论文), she wrte a screenplay examining hw grwing up with a disability impacts ne’s relatinship with neself and ne’s understanding f the wrld.(她把这种观点带到了她在斯坦福的经历中。
通读全文,尤其是根据第三段“Nw, Clt- Lacay is graduating frm Stanfrd with a degree in film and media studies and is heading t Hllywd with a passin fr increasing disability representatin and diversity in general. “Representatin matters, and I als think that diverse strytelling is what is mst cmpelling (令人信服的),” she said.(现在,Clt- Lacay即将从斯坦福大学毕业,获得电影和媒体研究学位,并怀着增加残疾人代表性和多样性的热情前往好莱坞。 故选A。

Acrss the flat plateau f AlUla in Saudi Arabia, shades f gray- brwn sil are dtted with areas f dark rck —— and a clearly defined circle f stnes. Unmistakably cnstructed by humans, this structure, called “standing stne circles” by Archaelgists, was built arund 7,500 years ag by a peple we barely knw fr a purpse we have lng misunderstd.
In 2019, archaelgists frm the University f Western Australia began excavating (发掘) these standing stne circles. Their initial idea was that these were structures built by Nelithic nmads (新石器时代的游牧民) fr sme lng- frgtten religius practices. Hwever, excavating at multiple sites, they fund what turned ut t be archaelgical pay dirt — dmestic rubbish. The remains f discarded animal bnes, husehld tls, and even jewelry, have reclassified the standing stne circles as Nelithic hmes.
Standing stne circles seem t have sprung up arund 5,800 t 5,500 B. C. This cincided with a warmer climate in the regin that brught mre regular rainfall and a landscape f rich grasses and trees, gd cnditins fr raising cattle and gats. But these were als gd cnditins fr building permanent structures. Mre abundant vegetatin meant less pressure t keep mving the animals t fresh grasslands, which made building hmes mre wrthwhile. This, and the plateau’s abundance f stnes, may have encuraged the nmads t stay a while and build.
Excavatins f these settlements are revealing smething f this peple’s way f life. They kept cattle and gats fr meat, but cntinued t hunt and gather t expand their diet with hare, fruits and nuts. The many grinding(磨碎) stnes fund n the sites suggest inhabitants were regularly grinding grains, but these were likely t be gathered rather than farmed. The plateau sites have als revealed tls made with materials frm the sandstne valleys and jewelry shaped frm shells frm the Red Sea —— these Nelithic peple had a cmplex culture invlving travel and prbably exchange.
The revelatin verturns many f ur assumptins abut Nelithic AlUla. Here were a peple mre settled and mre civilized than histry has given them credit fr. Their stry is just beginning t be revealed, but already a very different picture f early AlUla is emerging.
    32. What did the 2019 excavatin finally identify the “standing stne circles” as?
    A. Religius sites.B. Natural wnders.
    C. Rubbish statins.D. Dmestic buildings.
    33. What was a cntributing factr in the building f the standing stne circles?
    A. The richness f plants.B. The wrsening climate.
    C. The need t stre gds.D. The desire t raise mre animals.
    34. What is mst likely true abut Nelithic peple’s way f life in AlUla?
    A. They had interactins with ther grups.
    B. They planted crps and kept cattle and gats.
    C. They relied entirely n hunting and gathering fr fd.
    D. They made tls and jewelry purely frm lcal materials.
    35. What is the purpse f the text?
    A. T prmte a histrical site.B. T prvide sme new insights.
    C. T intrduce an ancient ppulatin.D. T argue fr sme lng- held beliefs.

根据文章首段末句“Unmistakably cnstructed by humans, this structure, called “standing stne circles” by Archaelgists, was built arund 7,500 years ag by a peple we barely knw fr a purpse we have lng misunderstd.(这个被考古学家称为“環狀列石”的建筑无疑是由人类建造的,它是在大约7500年前由一个我们几乎不知道的民族建造的,我们长期以来一直误解它的目的。)”和最后一段的内容“The revelatin verturns many f ur assumptins abut Nelithic AlUla. Here were a peple mre settled and mre civilized than histry has given them credit fr. Their stry is just beginning t be revealed, but already a very different picture f early AlUla is emerging.

E选项“Therefre, he reasned the same must be true f all big changes(因此,他推断所有大的变化都是如此)”承接前文,选项中的he指代前文的Maxwell Maltz,符合语境。故选E。
根据前文“And therefre it must take 21 days t change a habit, maybe, perhaps!( 因此,改变一个习惯必须花21天,也许,也许!)”以及后文“as a new study by psychlgist Phillippa Lally and her clleagues helps cnfirm. On average, her subjects, wh were trying t learn new habits such as eating fruit daily r ging jgging, tk a depressing 66 days befre reprting that the behaviur had becme unchangingly autmatic. 故选A。
根据后文“It culdn’t be just as easy t start eating a few mre apples as t start finding five hurs a week t study Chinese.( 开始多吃几个苹果不可能像开始每周抽出五个小时学习中文那么容易。)” F选项“And sme habits, unsurprisingly , were harder than thers t make stick(不出所料,有些习惯比其他习惯更难坚持)”直接指出了不同习惯养成的难易程度不同,照应后文中将吃苹果和学韩语相对比的例子。故选F。
根据前文“Self- help culture sticks t the fictin f the 21- day rule, prbably because it makes habit change sund basically easy.(自助文化坚持21天规则的虚构,可能是因为它使习惯改变听起来基本上很容易。)”
根据前文“Anther prblem is that we tend t think abut habit change wrngly. We want t, say, stp watching s much TV, but n the ther hand, demnstrably, we als want t watch lts f TV —— after all, we keep ding it. We’re stuck deep in what the Greeks called “akrasia”: deciding n the best curse f actin, then ding smething else. D选项“The way rund this is t see that habits are respnses t needs(解决这个问题的方法是认识到习惯是对需求的反应)”针对前文的问题提出了解决方案即要理解并满足我们的真正需求,而不是简单地错误地改变某个习惯。

此处需要用一个非谓语动词短语来修饰短语the first giant pandas,由于giant pandas被序数词first修饰,因此使用不定式t enter作为后置定语。
故填and。
故填where。
故填with。
故填an。
故填has wrked/has been wrking。
