Thanks t a cuple f American scientists, this situatin culd becme real. Swadesh Chaudhuri and Derek Lvely have invented the “bacteria (细菌) battery”. This kind f battery gets its pwer frm bacteria that eat sugar and turn it int electricity.
“This is a special rganism (有机体) ,” Lvely said. “Yu can get enugh electricity t pwer a cell phne battery fr abut fur days frm a spnful f sugar.”
In the past, bacteria batteries have been expensive and nt lng-lasting. But this battery uses a mre efficient bacterium that can turn 80 percent f sugar int electrical energy. This is 30 percent mre than similar batteries can manage.
The bacteria battery culd becme as small as a husehld battery. It is als cheap and stable (稳定的) , because sugar can be taken frm waste and crps.
But the sugar-t-electricity prcess is nt satisfactry as it culd take weeks fr the bacteria t change a cup f sugar int electricity. And it prduces “greenhuse” gases which pllute the envirnment.
