The Ryal Mint says that abut three percent f all cins— r abut 45 millin— are nw cunterfeits. In mst parts f the UK, the figure is as high as six percent.
David, frm Walsall, wh was welcmed with ther yung entrants t Dwning Street t celebrate their success, said they culd nt believe his design, which features fur well-knwn symbls f the UK: a rse, leek, thistle and shamrck emerging frm a Ryal Crnet(王冠), had been chsen fr the new cin.
He said, “I was really excited t hear that I had wn the cmpetitin t design the new£1 cin but hugely shcked as well. I heard abut the cmpetitin thrugh. my design teacher at schl. I spent a lt f time researching what srt f designs wuld represent all parts f the UK befre submitting my idea and hnestly cannt believe I have wn.”
The design, which will be true t David’s riginal entry, has been imprved fr use n the new cin with the supprt f well-knwn cin artist David Lawrence and lettering expert Stephen Raw.
The £ 1 cin will have the same shape as the ld 12-sided three-penny piece and is set t be the mst secure cin in circulatin in the wrld due t its bi-metallic(双金属的)cnstructin and the Ryal Mint’ s new advanced anti-cunterfeiting technlgy.

The current urgency t cut plastics use is accelerating ur search fr new materials, especially fr cntainers that can hld liquids. But glass is an existing material that culd be the star f a net-zer carbn ecnmy. Wrldwide, glass manufacturing(制造)prduces at least 86 millin tns f carbn dixide every year. But mst f this can be eliminated(去除)when glass is recycled, and existing technlgies culd turn glass manufacturing int a mstly carbn-free prcess. What needs t happen is fr cuntries t stp sending glass t landfill sites, and t make glass recycling cmpulsry.
Glass is made by heating limestne, sand and sda ash t 1,500℃.This heat cmes frm natural gas, and it accunts fr between 75% and 85% f the carbn emissins(排放)frm glass manufacturing. The remaining emissins are a by-prduct f the chemical reactins between the raw materials. But sme f these materials can be replaced with crushed recycled glass, knwn as cullet. When cullet is melted n CO2 is released. And furnaces(熔炉)dn’t have t burn s fiercely t melt glass as t melt the raw materials, ffering further carbn savings. Carbn can als be saved by decarbnizing the prcess f melting the chemical mix during manufacturing. If the electricity surce were fully decarbnized, it wuld mean that the entire prcess f glass-making wuld effectively be carbn-free.
Sme questins will need further research. Gvernments need t knw the cst f bsting systems fr glass cllectin and recycling, s that they can allcate(分配)apprpriate resurces. Furthermre, glass is heavier than plastic, s using it as a replacement will prbably add t transprt csts and emissins. Mre cuntries need t pass laws t reduce waste and eventually stp sending glass t landfill. That will autmatically create greater mtivatin fr glass t be recycled.
Glass is an essential material. The answers are there, and they are relatively simple. They need t be put int practice — and we can all raise a glass t that.
28.What is the current situatin f glass recycling and making?
A.Glass is recycled in mst cuntries.
    B.Glass recycling wn’t prduce CO2.

Like many ther living rganisms, humans are brn. cmpete fr resurces, reach maturity, reprduce, decline and die. Evlutin needs us fr just tw purpses---adapt and reprduce. While men can be cnsidered cmpetent regardless f their gray hair and wrinkles, wmen find themselves required t lk yunger t be accepted. Irnically, the mst likely backlash wmen experience usually cmes frm ther wmen rather than men.
But is there anything wrng with wanting t lk yunger? Many studies shw the link between attractiveness, self-respect, and well-being. As ne study shws, bdy dissatisfactin ften seen in yung girls can als ccur in wmen as they grw lder. An nline survey f ver300 wmen between the ages f 45 and65 fund that wmen dissatisfied with appearance and afraid f grwing lder were especially related t depressin, lwer lifespan and higher death rate.
Despite the nging battle ver bdy psitivity and “authenticity(真实)”, wanting t lk yunger is very natural. Yet simply lking yunger is nt enugh. We still need t invest mre effrts int helping peple live lnger and mre prductive lives. Als, remving the risk f age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease makes research int aging an investment that will repay itself many times ver.

    A.cmmentB.resistC.supprtD.dubt
34.What can we infer frm the last paragraph?

B.Increasing peple’s life span is a tp pririty.
C.It is valueless t study fatal age-related diseases.
D.Mre effrts are t be made in prmising peple a better life.
35.What can we learn abut frm the passage?
A.Alzheimer, The Last Enemy T Be Cnquered
B.Plastic Surgery, A Shrt Cut T Be Yung
    C.N shame, A Desire t Lk Yung
    D.Lasting Attractiveness, A Secret t Lng Life
