David says they were bth taught never t drp their trash as children, s they culdn’t believe that peple were littering s much. At the start f 2022, David and Yvnne decided t start picking up the bttles t bring hme with them. It was the large number f litter that made them decide t train Scruff t gather ther peple’s trash.

Unfrtunately, ver-expsure t the radiactive elements made her develp a disease and die in 1934. Marie Curie wn the Nbel Prize in tw different fields. Because f her pineering wrk which led t chemtherapy (化学疗法), the charity decided n the name f Marie Curie.
The daffdil is ne f the first plants t flwer during spring in the UK, which marks the return f flwering plants t the ecsystem after winter. Because f this, the charity uses the daffdil as a metaphr (比喻) fr bringing rebirth thrugh charitable giving.
Everyne yu see wearing a daffdil has cntributed t the charity, but each daffdil is wrth nly what yu want t pay fr it. The charity des ask that yu stick t a minimum amunt f £1.
The charity encurages peple t start wearing their daffdils at the start f March, when the “Great Daffdil Appeal” start. But that desn’t mean yu can nly wear them in March. Peple are smetimes seen walking arund with daffdils n their clthes all year rund.

Yu’re rushing t schl and a man ahead f yu suddenly falls dwn. D yu stp t help? In a study f bystanders, it was fund that sme peple lk away r keep n walking rather than stp and get invlved.
“Peple tend t decide that n actin is needed,” says Ervin Staub, a psychlgist at the University f Massachusetts at Amherst, wh studies the rle f bystanders. “The first thughts that cme int yur mind ften stp yu frm ffering help.”
Time and again, gd and caring peple fail t cme t the assistance f thers. They knw they shuld act and, hwever, fr reasns they themselves dn’t understand, peple smetimes dn’t respnd. Why?
One thing we knw is that the unclearer a situatin is, the less likely peple are t help. Let’s say yu see smething like vaprs (水汽) cming ut f a building. Anther ne is knwn as “the bystander effect”. This says that the mre peple there are bserving an emergency, the less respnsible each ne f them persnally feels. Fr example, if yu are the nly persn in the wrld wh can act t save smene in a dangerus situatin, yu are mre likely t act.
Hwever, if yu are ne f 100,000 peple wh culd save the situatin, yu wuld be happier if ne f the ther 99,999 peple did it!
“If yu ntice truble, frce yurself t stp and judge the situatin instead f walking away,” says Ervin Staub. Then try t invlve ther peple; yu dn’t have t take n all the respnsibility f being helpful. Accrding t Staub, it is smetimes just a matter f turning t the persn next t yu and saying, “It lks like we shuld d smething.” Once yu take actin, mst peple will fllw yu and als help.
    32. Accrding t Ervin Staub, when accidents happen, peple’s first thughts ________.
    A. frce them t give a handB. depend n thers’ reactin
    C. prevent them frm helpingD. ften lead t embarrassment
    33. What des “the bystander effects” in paragraph 5 shw?
    A. Many hands make light wrk.
    B. Mre peple, less respnsibility.
    C. The majrity f peple have the same idea.
    D. Peple tend t think twice befre they act.
    34. What shuld yu prbably act if yu bserve truble accrding t the last paragraph?
    A. Call the ambulance as sn as yu can.
    B. Evaluate the situatin and take actin alne.
    C. Stp and try t invlve ther peple t help tgether.
    D. Turn t thers and ask them t take n the whle respnsibility.
    35. What can be the best title fr the text?
    A. Stick t Yur Decisin.B. Dn’t Just Stand There.
    C. It’s the Thught that Cunts.D. T Help r Nt, it’s a Questin.
