As smene wh studies twins, she is nt surprised that the cnnectin between Gustav and Otavi Pandlf is s strng. “Many twins have what I call a special twin culture with their habits and ways f ding things and understanding things,” she says, “and that’s understandable, because they are genetically alike.”
The Pandlf brthers were brn in 1974 int a family f artists and art lvers in Sã Paul, Brazil’s mst ppulus city. As kids, they spent their free time breakdancing, DJing and listening t rappers. China has made remarkable achievements in space explratin. The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA)aims t land its astrnauts n the mn befre 2030 and has recently shwn the spacesuit they plan t use. Hwever, the name f the suit is still up in the air.
As reprted by Space News, the CMSA revealed their new extravehicular (舱外的)activity (EVA)spacesuit at an event n September 28 in Chngqing, China. It is cvered in a prtective fabric t guard against extreme temperatures and lunar dust. The suits als have
a wide-ranging, nn-reflective shield (防护)and bth shrt and lng fcus length cameras. Unlike the earlier suits, these lunar suits allw fr much mre flexibility while mving n the mn.
Apart frm the practicalities, representatives explained that aesthetics (美学)were als imprtant during the design phase. The appearance f the new spacesuit was emphasized. Accrding t CNN, the mainly white spacesuits have red stripes n their upper parts inspired by the “flying apsaras” frm ancient Chinese art. “The stripes n the legs are designed t lk like ‘rcket launch flames,’ representing a strng-willed and determined spirit, and that’s the key.” as Zhang Wanxin, directr f the CMSA’s engineering ffice, tld China’s CCTV. This weekend’s annuncement als saw the CMSA fficials task the natin with helping name the new suits, which will be chsen later.
This nt nly shws China’s remarkable achievements in space explratin but als reflects its cultural pride and rapid advances in science and technlgy. By integrating traditinal Chinese cultural elements int mdern technlgy, China shwcases its unique charm and great pwer t the wrld. Meanwhile, the public naming initiative encurages citizens t engage with the space prgram, creating a clser link between the space and the peple.

Reducing calrie intake may lead t a thinner bdy and a lnger life. Peple usually think it is because f weight lss and metablic (新陈代谢)changes frm eating less. But a recent study n diet limits in labratry animals challenges this traditinal view.
T study hw diet wrks, researchers bserved960 mice. These mice were genetically different, like humans. Sme mice had calrie-limited diets, sme fasted (禁食的)regularly, and thers ate as they liked. It was fund that diets with restricted calries caused weight lss and metablic changes. Hwever, factrs like immune health, — genes, and the bdy’s ability t bear stress seem t better explain the link between fewer calries and a lnger life.
Gary Churchill, a muse researcher, said, “Metablic changes are imprtant, but they dn’t directly lead t a lnger life.” Other scientists think this shws hw cmplicated the bdy’s respnse t calrie reductin.
Cutting calries by 40% made the mice live the lngest n average. But fasting regularly and less strict calrie limits als increased lifespan (寿命). As is knwn, dieting mice have psitive metablic changes such as less bdy fat and lwer bld sugar.
Hwever, the effects f diet limits n metablism and lifespan didn’t always g tgether. Surprisingly, mice that lst the mst weight n a lw-calrie diet smetimes died yunger than thse that lst less. This means that mre than just metablism affects hw the bdy reacts t fewer calries. Immune health and red-bld-cell functin were imprtant fr a lnger life. Als, the bdy’s verall ability t handle stress was imprtant.
The findings may change hw scientists think abut diet limits in humans. In a human trial f a lw-calrie diet, researchers fund that it reduced metablic rates. But the muse data suggests that metablic measures may nly shw “healthspan”, nt lifespan. Scientist Edmma ntes that the study needs mre evidence and warns nt t directly use muse results fr humans, but he als admits that the study shws healthspan and lifespan are different.
    12. Hw was the study cnducted?
    A. By cmparing mice with human beings.
    B. By develping the feeding habits f mice.
    C. By cnducting experiment n different animals.
    D. By adpting the cntrlled experiment methd.
    13. What surprising result des the study reveal?
    A. All mice live lnger under diet restrictin.
    B. Dieting mice have psitive metablic changes.
    C. Regular fasting have little impact n the lifespan f mice.
    D. Mice with significant weight lss can have shrter lives.
    14. What is Scientist Edmma’s attitude tward the study?
    A. Cautius.B. Critical. C. Optimistic.D. Uncaring.
    15. What’s the best title fr the text?
    A. Metablism: The Key t a Lnger Life
    B. Less Fd, Lnger Life: The Simple Slutin
    C. Diet and Lifespan: It’s Mre than Metablism
    D. Calrie Restrictin: Weight Lss and Metablic Change

    1.答案: C
解析:文中在“What Yu Will D”部分提到“As a teacher, yu will help children learn English thrugh daily activities... Yu will teach them new wrds and help them speak better.”,明确指出教师要帮助孩子们学习英语,教他们新单词并且帮助他们提升口语表达能力,也就是帮助孩子们学习英语口语,C选项符合。A选项“Send children t schl”(送孩子们上学)与原文提到的“Pick them up frm schl”(从学校接孩子们)不符;B选项“Have fun with clleagues”(和同事一起玩乐)文中未提及相关内容;D选项“Organize stry writing cntests”(组织故事写作比赛)也并非文中所描述教师要做的事情,所以答案是C。
    2.答案: A
B选项“Fixed wrking hurs”(固定的工作时间),原文说的是“Flexible hurs that fit yur schedule”(灵活的、适合你日程安排的工作时间),并非固定工作时间;C选项“Cheap French classes”(便宜的法语课程),原文是“Free French classes t learn the lcal language”(免费的学习当地语言即法语的课程),不是便宜的课程;D选项“Free cmpany accmmdatin”(免费的公司住宿),文中未提及此项福利,所以答案是A。
    4.答案: B
解析:根据前文“Their marvelus and playful artwrks have graced parks, trains, bridges and cuntless ther utdr spaces arund the wrld.”,描述的是他们的艺术作品与公园、火车、桥梁等户外空间的关系,再结合后文举例提到为2004年雅典奥运会画了82英尺高的巨人作为装饰(decratin),可以推断出“graced”在这里表达的是类似“装饰”的意思,使这些地方因他们的作品变得更美观,B选项“Decrated”(装饰)符合语境。
    5.答案: B
解析:文中提到“They nce shwed their grandmther a phtgraph f LL Cl J and asked if she culd sew them a similar utfit. ‘And she did in tw days,’ remembers Gustav.”,讲述了兄弟俩向祖母展示照片希望祖母能为他们缝制相似服装,祖母两天就做好了这件事,从侧面体现出家人对他们在艺术追求方面的支持,包括满足他们在穿着打扮等方面想要模仿偶像的想法,B选项符合。A选项“T emphasize their clse family ties”(强调他们紧密的家庭关系),重点并非单纯强调家庭关系紧密;C选项“T praise their grandmther’s sewing skills”(赞扬他们祖母的缝纫技术),不是主要想表达的意图;D选项“T illustrate the happiness f their family”(说明他们家庭的幸福),也不符合提及这件事的主要目的,所以答案是B。
    6.答案: D
解析:文章最后提到“Artwrk is a dr and a mirrr,” they explain, “yu have t pen yurself up in rder t feel it.”,意思是艺术作品是一扇门也是一面镜子,你必须敞开心扉才能感受它,这表明兄弟俩认为全身心地开放、投入是充分欣赏艺术的关键,D选项符合。A选项“Art is nly understd by a few peple”(艺术只有少数人能理解),文中未体现这样的观点;B选项“Creativity is the main apprach t creating art”(创造力是创作艺术的主要途径),重点不是在说创作艺术的途径;C选项“Skill is mre imprtant than inspiratin in art”(在艺术中技巧比灵感更重要),也并非他们所表达的关于欣赏艺术的观点,所以答案是D。
    7.答案: C
解析:文中提到“These guys have a way f just using their imaginatin t create all kinds f magical and unexpected things”,表明他们善于运用想象力创造出各种神奇、意想不到的东西,并且描述了他们独特的涂鸦风格以及作品呈现出的精湛技艺等,都体现出他们富有想象力且有创造力的特点,C选项符合。
    8.答案: A
解析:文中提到“Unlike the earlier suits, these lunar suits allw fr much mre flexibility while mving n the mn.”,说明新的航天服相比之前的,在月球上活动时灵活性更强,也就是使用起来更加方便、人性化,A选项“It is mre user-friendly.”(它更便于使用)符合这一描述。B选项“It is mre cst- effective.”(它更具成本效益),文中未提及成本相关内容;C选项“It is mre pressure-resistant.”(它更抗压),原文没有关于抗压方面的优势体现;D选项“It is mre dust-prf.”(它更防尘),虽然提到有防护织物抵御月球尘埃,但重点强调的优势是灵活性方面,所以答案是A。
    9.答案: C
解析:根据文中“Accrding t CNN, the mainly white spacesuits have red stripes n their upper parts inspired by the ‘flying apsaras’ frm ancient Chinese art... representing a strng-willed and determined spirit, and that’s the key.” A选项“T fllw the internatinal trend.”(为了跟随国际潮流),文中未体现是出于此目的;B选项“T adjust the lunar envirnment.”(为了适应月球环境),外观设计强调的并非是适应环境;D选项“T dwnplay the aesthetic value.”(为了淡化美学价值),与原文强调美学重要相悖,所以答案是C。
    10.答案: B
解析:最后一段开头提到“This nt nly shws China’s remarkable achievements in space explratin but als reflects its cultural pride and rapid advances in science and technlgy.”,接着围绕中国在太空探索中融入传统文化元素体现文化自豪感以及科技进步等内容展开阐述,重点是在讲述中国太空探索背后的文化自豪感,B选项符合。A选项“The technical descriptins f the new spacesuits.”(新航天服的技术描述),最后一段并非着重描述技术;C选项“The future prspect f the China Manned Space Agency.”(中国载人航天工程的未来前景),未主要涉及未来前景内容;D选项“The internatinal develpment in space technlgy.”(国际空间技术发展),也不是该段主要论述的,所以答案是B。
    11.答案: A
B选项“T intrduce the manufacturing prcess f new spacesuit f the CMSA.”(介绍中国载人航天工程新航天服的制造过程),文中未涉及制造过程内容;C选项“T invlve mre peple in the public naming initiative.”(为了让更多人参与公众命名活动),这不是文章主要写作目的;D选项“T summarize China’s significant achievement.”(为了总结中国的重大成就),表述太宽泛,重点还是围绕太空探索及新航天服情况来写的,所以答案是A。
    12.答案: D
解析:文章提到“T study hw diet wrks, researchers bserved 960 mice. These mice were genetically different, like humans. Sme mice had calrie-limited diets, sme fasted (禁食的)regularly, and thers ate as they liked.”,研究人员通过对不同情况的小鼠(限制卡路里饮食、定期禁食、随意进食)进行观察对比实验,采用的是对照实验的方法,以此来研究饮食如何起作用,D选项符合。A选项“By cmparing mice with human beings”(通过将小鼠与人类进行比较),重点是对不同饮食情况的小鼠做实验,并非和人类比较;B选项“By develping the feeding habits f mice”(通过培养小鼠的饮食习惯),不是培养习惯,而是设定不同的饮食条件来做实验;C选项“By cnducting experiment n different animals”(通过对不同动物进行实验),文中只是针对小鼠进行实验,并非不同动物,所以答案是D。
    13.答案: D
解析:文中提到“Surprisingly, mice that lst the mst weight n a lw-calrie diet smetimes died yunger than thse that lst less.”,令人惊讶的是,在低热量饮食中体重下降最多的小鼠有时比体重下降少的小鼠死得更早,这表明体重下降明显的小鼠可能寿命更短,D选项符合这一惊人发现。A选项“All mice live lnger under diet restrictin.”(所有小鼠在饮食限制下都活得更长),与原文中提到有的体重下降多的小鼠反而死得早不符;B选项“Dieting mice have psitive metablic changes.”(节食的小鼠有积极的新陈代谢变化),这不是令人惊讶的结果,是已知的情况;C选项“Regular fasting have little impact n the lifespan f mice.”(定期禁食对小鼠的寿命影响很小),原文说定期禁食也增加了寿命,所以该项不符合原文,答案是D。
    14.答案: A
解析:文中提到“Scientist Edmma ntes that the study needs mre evidence and warns nt t directly use muse results fr humans, but he als admits that the study shws healthspan and lifespan are different.”,科学家Edmma指出该研究需要更多证据,并且警告不要直接将小鼠的研究结果应用于人类,这体现出他对待该研究是谨慎的态度,A选项符合。
A选项“Metablism: The Key t a Lnger Life”(新陈代谢:长寿的关键),文章表明不只是新陈代谢影响寿命,不符合主旨;B选项“Less Fd, Lnger Life: The Simple Slutin”(少吃,长寿:简单的解决办法),过于简单片面,没有体现出核心的多因素影响;D选项“Calrie Restrictin: Weight Lss and Metablic Change”(卡路里限制:体重减轻和新陈代谢变化),没有突出与寿命关系中其他重要因素,所以答案是C。
    16.答案:G;D;C;A;F
解析:①前文阐述了志愿服务的积极意义,后文提到“Here are sme tips t help yu find yur passin and get invlved in yur cmmunity.”(以下是一些帮助你找到自己的热情所在并参与到社区中的建议),G选项“Finding the right vlunteer pprtunity can be the first step in making a difference.”(找到合适的志愿服务机会可能是有所作为的第一步)起到了承上启下的过渡作用,既承接上文志愿服务的好处,又引出下文关于寻找合适志愿服务机会的具体建议,符合语境。
②根据小标题“Explre yur interests”(探索你的兴趣)以及后文“There are cuntless vlunteer pprtunities in every cmmunity, s finding smething that matches yur interests can make the experience mre fulfilling.”(每个社区都有无数的志愿服务机会,所以找到与你兴趣相符的事情能让这段经历更有成就感)可知,此处强调要思考自己的热情所在以及关心的事业,D选项符合,先思考自己在乎的方面,再去寻找与之匹配的机会。
③前文提到“Research their missin statement, prgrams, and vlunteer pprtunities t find a gd fit.
④后文提到“Yu dn’t have t cmmit t a lng-term vlunteer prject right away. Start with a minr prject r event t get a feel fr the rganizatin and their missin.”(你不必马上投身于一个长期的志愿服务项目。
⑤前文提到“Find an pprtunity that fits yur schedule and cmmit t it n a regular basis. It can help the rganizatin plan and manage their resurces.”(找到一个适合你日程安排的机会,并定期投入其中。这能帮助该组织计划和管理它们的资源),F选项“And it can als help yu build relatinships with the peple yu serve”(而且它也能帮助你与你所服务的人建立关系)与前文句式结构一致,都是在阐述定期参与志愿服务带来的好处,所以选F。
    18.答案: A
    19.答案: B
解析:从后文“They were getting n with their jbs, nt realizing I was really...”

    22.答案: A
    27.答案: C
    解析:后文提到“I can... him almst with me thrugh every surgery”,意思是她感觉在每次手术时他都好像在自己身边,所以这里是说她仍然想象那个医生在“她身边”,“by her side”符合语境,A选项“in the way”(挡道)、B选项“ut f sight”(看不见)、D选项“in a hurry”(匆忙)都不符合她想象医生陪伴的意思,所以选C。
    28.答案: A
    32.答案:figures;jurneying;and;with;were shwn/were shwed;displayed;natural;what;accuracy;t lerant
③“has nurtured (养育)and witnessed the prgress f Chinese civilizatin”与“in return, artists ver centuries have never stpped describing it...”
    ⑩此处“t bserve nature”“t cnsider frm the standpints f ther lives”与“t learn t get alng with the wrld”是并列结构,共同作“reminding peple”的宾语补足语,所以填“t learn”,表示学会与世界相处。
