Damian Stefaniuk and his clleagues at Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy (MIT) have develped a nvel energy strage device—a supercapacitr— using three basic, inexpensive materials: water, cement, and a st (煤灰), which can carry electricity.
Supercapacitrs are highly efficient at string energy but differ frm batteries in sme imprtant ways. They can charge much mre quickly than a lithium (锂) battery and dn’t experience the same level f perfrmance decline ver time. But supercapacitrs als release the pwer they stre rapidly, making them less useful in devices such as mbile phnes, laptps r electric cars where a steady supply f energy is needed ver an extended perid f time.
Yet accrding t Stefaniuk, these supercapacitrs culd make an imprtant cntributin t effrts t reduce carbn emissins and make the glbal ecnmy mre envirnmentally friendly. "If it can be scaled up, the technlgy can help slve an imprtant issue— the string f renewable energy," he says.
He and his fellw researchers at MIT envisin several applicatins fr their supercapacitrs. One might be t create rads that stre slar energy and then release it t recharge electric cars wirelessly as they drive alng a rad. The rapid release f energy frm the supercapacitrs wuld allw vehicles t get a rapid bst t their batteries. Anther applicatin wuld be using supercapacitrs in the fundatins r walls f huses, s that these parts f the huse nt nly supprt the structure but als stre energy.
"But it’s still early stages. Right nw, the supercapacitr made frm building materials can nly stre just under 300 watt-hurs per cubic meter, enugh t pwer a 10-watt LED light fr 30 hurs. The pwer might seem lw cmpared t regular batteries, but a fundatin made frm 30-40 cubic meters f this material culd meet the daily energy needs f a huse," says Stefaniuk. "Since this material is used s widely arund the wrld, it has the ptential t be very cmpetitive and useful fr energy strage."
12. What might be an advantage f supercapacitrs?
A.They require little care.
B.They are lighter in design.
C.They release pwer in a stable manner.
D.They cntinue t wrk effectively ver time.
13. Hw des the authr highlight the applicatin f supercapacitrs?
A.By prviding examples.
B.By giving instructins.C By making cmparisns. D. By presenting cause and effect.
14. Which f the fllwing can be inferred abut the supercapacitr technlgy?
A.It is still develping and has great ptential.
B.It will be limited t small-scale applicatins.
C.It is efficient enugh t help replace batteries.
D.It will becme widely used in everyday devices.
15. What is the purpse f this text?

1.答案: A
Opening hurs may vary depending n the weather, s it's best t check its website befre yu head ut t the farm"可知,那里的开放时间会随着天气而变化,需要特别留意,故选A项。
2.答案: A
The farm stre is pen frm Mnday t Saturday frm 8:00 a.m. t 6:00 p.m. fr visitrs t make a purchase"和Hney Bear Orchards部分中的"It als ffers pre- in its shp"可知,两者的共性是都提供购物服务,故选A项。
根据题目中的关键信息"a family with yung children"定位到Brecknck Orchard部分中的"Wagn(马车) ride rchard turs cst $8 per persn and include beautiful tys fr kids",故选D项。
The muntain came t represent the ppsite f everything that I lved and respected abut climbing. What had nce been the final muntain climbing gal became the fcus f a cmmercial guiding industry.",表明珠峰原本是登山目标,后来却成了商业向导行业的焦点,这种商业化改变让作者讨厌攀登珠峰,所以原因是攀登它变成了逐利的产业,故选C选项。
5.答案: A
That was prbably where my persnal Mt. Qmlangma stry wuld have ended, were it nt fr an ld friend Thm Pllard and his bsessin (迷恋) with ne f the greatest mysteries.",意思是若不是老朋友Thm Pllard及其对重大谜团的迷恋,作者关于珠峰的故事可能就结束了,可见是Thm Pllard的影响促使作者后来去攀登珠峰,因此选择A选项。
Alng the way, I cntinuusly tipped my hat, nt just t Mallry and Irvine but t anyne wh has the drive t push himself r herself up this rute."
I went t Mt. Qmlangma t seek Irvine. But in the end, I fund smething mre difficult t get: the spirit that Irvine and Mallry shared. It was hiding in plain sight, right where it has always been: inside the brave suls wh risk s much t fllw in stried adventurers’ftsteps up Mt. Qmlangma."
With the increasing variety f travel chices, traditinal grup turs n lnger satisfy peple wh are lking fr a mre persnal and different travel experience and hping t explre every part f the city in a mre immersive (沉浸式的) way.(随着旅游选择的多样化,传统的团体游已经不能满足那些寻求更个性化和不同的旅行体验,并希望以一种更沉浸式的方式探索城市的每一个部分的人)"和最后一段中Zha所说的话"City-walking is all abut ding whatever yu want in yur wn explratin f a city, and it is actually the kind f slw-paced, lw-carbn lifestyle that I relate t s much
The trending city-walk culture, which encurages experiencing urban life with n transprtatin means except ne's legs and feet, has als made splashes n varius scial media platfrms.(流行的城市漫步文化也在各大社交媒体平台上引起了轰动,这种文化鼓励人们在除了腿和脚之外没有任何交通工具的情况下体验城市生活)"可知,城市漫步文化鼓励人们在没有交通工具的情况下体验自由城市生活。故选B项。
10.答案: A
On the vide-sharing app Duyin, the Chinese versin f Tik-Tk, a recent vide abut city walk rutes in Guangzhu, Guangdng prvince, has gained mre than171,000 likes, with 72,000 viewers f all ages adding the vide t their favrites. Accrding t a reprt frm lifestyle-sharing platfrm Xiahngshu, in the first half f this year, searches abut city-walks increased 30-fldfirm the previus year.(在视频分享应用抖音,中国版的Tik-Tk上,最近发布的一段关于广东省广州城市漫步路线的视频,获得了超过17.1万个赞,有7.2万名不同年龄的观众把这段视频加到了自己的收藏。 故选A项。
通读全文,尤其是第四段"Cmpared with tightly scheduled rutes (路线) and picture-taking turs, city-walking fcuses n free, casual and spntaneus(自发的) experiences. The trending city-walk culture, which encurages experiencing urban life with n transprtatin means except ne's legs and feet, has als made splashes n varius scial media platfrms.(与紧凑的路线和拍照旅游相比,城市漫步侧重于自由、随意和自发的体验。
They can charge much mre quickly than a lithium (锂) battery and dn’t experience the same level f perfrmance decline ver time." They als release the pwer they stre rapidly"不符,其释放能量是快速的,并非稳定的。
13.答案: A
He and his fellw researchers at MIT envisin several applicatins fr their supercapacitrs. One might be t create rads that stre slar energy and then release it t recharge electric cars wirelessly as they drive alng a rad. Anther applicatin wuld be using supercapacitrs in the fundatins r walls f huses, s that these parts f the huse nt nly supprt the structure but als stre energy."
14.答案: A
But it’s still early stages. Right nw, the supercapacitr made frm building materials can nly stre just under 300 watt-hurs per cubic this material is used s widely arund the wrld, it has the ptential t be very cmpetitive and useful fr energy strage."
Even if yu can finally fall asleep, taking t lng t fall asleep can lead t t few hurs f sleep altgether.(即使你最终能睡着,花太长时间入睡也会导致睡眠时间太少)"以及后文"S peple having truble falling asleep always wnder hw they can sleep well.(所以入睡困难的人总是想知道他们如何才能睡得好)"可知,本句承接上文,说明花太长时间入睡的情况对人们的影响,后文给出解决方案。
Parents knw frm experience that gentle music can help babies fall asleep. Science supprts this, shwing that children f all ages, frm babies t elementary schl children, sleep better after listening t cmfrtable music. Frtunately, children aren’t the nly nes wh can benefit frm gentle music befre bedtime.(父母从经验中知道轻柔的音乐可以帮助婴儿入睡。
③根据上文"Listening t music likely imprves sleep fr mre than ne reasn. Music can prmte sleep directly by affecting yur physilgy
Studies have lked at many types f music and playlists but there isn’t a clear answer abut the best music fr sleep.(研究考察了许多类型的音乐和播放列表,但对于最适合睡眠的音乐,还没有一个明确的答案)"可知,本句与最适合睡觉的音乐类型有关,B选项type对应后文types。
One f the mst imprtant things n hw music affects a persn’s bdy is their wn musical preferences.(关于音乐如何影响一个人的身体,最重要的一点是他们自己的音乐偏好)"以及后文"Fr thse wh dn’t want t design their wn playlist, nline music services have stepped in and usually ffer playlists fr sleep r relaxatin.(对于那些不想设计自己的播放列表的人来说,在线音乐服务已经介入,通常提供睡眠或放松的播放列表)"可知,本句主要说明设计个人播放列表来促进睡眠。
I was interested in vlunteering at a hspital because bth f my parents wrk in hspitals. I wanted t see..."
18.答案: A
20.答案: D

21.答案: A
24.答案: A
解析: 根据后文"since I am interested in cmputers, and I wanted t see hw they are used in a hspital setting"可知,因为对计算机感兴趣且想看看其在医院环境中的应用,所以作者申请(applied)去信息技术办公室工作,所以选择A选项。
28.答案: A
32.答案: an; where; t spt; rse; cmpared; as; claiming; and; firms; affrdable
③"be likely t d sth."
⑧"intrduced market refrms"与"penedup t the wrld"是并列的动作,用并列连词"and"连接。
