My husband Tm came with a huge grin n his face. He held his arms wide and annunced his retirement after wrking fr the Pstal Service fr thirty-three years. But as time went by, I culd tell that Tm had nthing t d at hme. He began t pace like a lin, glancing ut the windws.

Nrwegian authr, playwright and pet Jn Fsse has been named the winner f the Nbel Prize in Literature. The Swedish Academy said n Thursday it was fr his “innvative plays and prse which gives vice t the unsayable”.
This made him the first Nynrsk writer t receive the prize and the furth Nrwegian t win it, fllwing Sigrid Undset, wh wn it in 1928. Previus winners f the prize — given fr a bdy f wrks, rather than a single bk-have included Tni Mrrisn, Dris Lessing, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Bb Dylan.
Brn in 1959, Fsse grew up in western Nrway, n a small farm in Strandebarm. He started writing pems and stries at age 12, and fund writing t be a frm f escape. Fsse enrlled at the University f Bergen and studied cmparative literature during which time he began writing in Nynrsk, a minrity language.
