The full mn climbs ver the eastern hrizn (地平线) and hangs like a huge range glbe in the sky. A few hurs later, the mn is verhead but seems t have changed. The huge range glbe has becme a small silver disk. What has happened? Why has the range clr disappeared? Why des the mn seem s much smaller and farther away?
The mn appears range n the hrizn because we view it thrugh the dust f the atmsphere. The verhead mn des nt really becme smaller as it mves away frm the hrizn. Our eyes tell us that the verhead mn is farther away. But in this psitin the mn is actually clser t ur eyes than when it is near the hrizn.
The change in size is a trick ur eyes and minds play n us. When the mn is lw in the sky, we can cmpare its size with familiar bjects. It is easy t see that the mn is much larger than trees r buildings, fr example. When the mn is high in the sky, hwever, it is hard t cmpare it with bjects n earth. Cmpared t the vastness f the sky, the mn seems small.
There is anther reasn why the mn seems t shrink. We are used t staring at bjects straight ahead f us. When an bject is difficult t see, ur eyes have t try t fcus n it. When we mve ur heads back t lk up, we will try hard again. Lking at smething frm an unaccustmed psitin can fl yu int believing an bject is smaller r farther away than it is. Hwever, scientists d nt yet understand cmpletely why the mn seems t shrink as it rises in the sky.

    9. What really happens when the mn flats farther away frm the hrizn?
    A. It is nearer.B. It ges farther away.
    C. It turns range.D. It gets dusty.
    10. Why des the authr mentin trees and buildings in Para. 3?
    A. T suggest that they can catch ur attentin.
    B. T shw that they can influence ur judgment.
    C. T indicate that they are large bjects.
    D. T shw that hey are small n earth.
    11. What can we infer frm the text?
    A. The mn is becming smaller.B. The mn is actually a big range glbe.
    C. We d nt see the mn as it really is.D. The mn's size changes cnstantly.
    D
The scial media platfrm Instagram nce made headlines fr limiting likes in an effrt t reduce the cmparisns and hurt feelings resulting frm attaching ppularity t sharing cntent. In additin t limiting likes, as Instagram has dne, Sperling suggests scial platfrms cnsider decreasing mass sharing. They might functin mre as messaging services by highlighting ne-n-ne cmmunicatins. As t individuals, we can mnitr ur behavir t see hw ur use impacts us, and hw t act as a result.
    12. Fr what reasn did Instagram limit likes?
    A. T relieve anxiety.B. T make headlines.
    C. T prmte ther functins.D. T cntrl nline time.
    13. What des the underlined wrd “validatin” mean in paragraph 3?
    A. Gratitude.B. Recgnitin.
    C. Respect.D. Achievement
    14. What's Sperling’s attitude twards scial media platfrm?
