Each participant was expsed multiple times fr five secnds t several experimental cnditins: smiling r frwning while lking at a blank screen; smiling while lking at a happy image, such as a beautiful beach; and frwning while lking at a depressing image, such as a beach cvered in garbage. They als perfrmed the same set f experiments with weaker stimulatins that did nt prduce any visible mvement f participants ’ facial muscles.
